POST Office staff with a keen sense of smell caught a whiff of cannabis from a package.
It led to a man appearing in court for sending skunk cannabis to his brother-in-law in Bridlington.
Ian Owen, of New Lane, appeared at Pontefract Magistrates' Court and pleaded guilty to sending 5.52g of the class C drug in two foil wraps to Stephen Nunn in Bridlington on November 8.
Workers at Upton Post Office contacted police after smelling the cannabis and 41-year-old Owen was arrested.
Mitigating, Richard Pinto said: "Sending drugs with a powerful smell through Royal Mail is not the most sophisticated way of doing it.
"His brother-in-law has a health condition and would have used the cannabis for pain relief. No money changed hands."
Owen was fined £85 and ordered to pay £60 in costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

It's nice to see touting is still alive and well in RM, plus, how did our colleague know what the smell was
I've never used cannabis so I don't know what it smells like.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
