TV star Christine Bleakley presents top award to Flintshire

A FIRST-class postman got to meet TV presenter Christine Bleakley after being voted Welsh community postman of the year
Gareth Roberts, from Shotton, Deeside, won the award for his work with Shotton Youth Club and with Aston Park Rangers football club.

The 29-year-old, who is also a basketball coach and football referee, was presented with his Royal Mail first class community award and £500 cash prize by the BBC's One Show presenter at a glittering ceremony in London.

He said: "It was a fantastic event and I feel so proud to have been with so many deserving people. It was a great day and I really enjoyed meeting Christine."

Royal Mail customers from across Wales sent in nominations for the awards, which recognise those posties who go above and beyond the call of duty.

Huw Roberts, director of Welsh affairs, Royal Mail Group, said: "We are proud to have people like Gareth working for us.

"He represents just a few of the thousands of first-class people working for Royal Mail, whose role in the community makes a real difference to people's lives."
