Allied Estate residents demand return of Feltham post lady Vicky

The devoted fans of a 'loud and bubbly' post lady are demanding she be returned to her round on the Allied Estate in Feltham after Royal Mail moved her amid concerns for her safety.

Since the sudden decision to move her to a Bedfont route, hundreds of residents on the Allied Estate have signed a petition calling for the hard-working postie, known only as 'Vicky', to be reinstated.

Percival Road resident Teresa Lynch, 37, said: "Everybody loves Vicky. She's so loud and bubbly, you can hear her coming from the other end of the street and she always cheers people up.

"She's a great woman, who goes above and beyond her job for each and every person on this estate."

Unusually for a postwoman Vicky, who has been delivering mail in the area for nearly 20 years, is a well-known animal-lover who is as popular with the dogs at the homes she visits as she is with their owners.

"When I first got my rescue puppy, Vicky was one of the few people she would let into the garden," said 46-year-old Michelle Dobby, of Percival Road.

"She's great with animals and very patient with kids and anyone else who needs help."

Vicky was removed from her route on Wednesday last week as police investigated an allegation she had been assaulted while making her deliveries.

But customers along her old route, which includes Percival Road, Prince's Road, Avenue Road and Raleigh Road, are convinced she wants to return and are clamouring for her to get back as quickly as possible.

Pensioner John Kelly, 77, said: "She knows a lot of people here by name and after doing this route for so long she never makes mistakes. We're already noticing the difference without her and we miss having her around, too. She's so lovely, she always makes you smile."

A Royal Mail spokeswoman said they appreciated the support for their post woman but could not comment on the case at this stage.

The petition calling for Vicky's return already has more than 300 signatures and will be delivered to Royal Mail this week.

so she has been assaulted yet all these people are worried about is themselves
have they actually contacted her? i doubt it bar being 'convinced' she would want to return

Hey that's a good idea, instead of seniority and RM favouritism lets have the public choose who does the round - that must be fair.

Undoubtedly - what's handsome, sophisticated, intelligent, enthusiatic, hard working and well endowed in Gaelic? 'Cos when I'm writing your "delivery address" - I don't want to be using any of those words
