Mold woman criticises investigation into murder of Mold postman Paul Savage

A WOMAN whose home has been searched as part of the investigation into a brutal murder has criticised the police.

North Wales Police have just launched a fresh investigation into the murder of Mold postman Paul Savage, blugeoned to death in Clayton Road six years ago.

Clare Davies, of Mold, said when a member of her family, who she does not wish to publicly identify, came under suspicion her home was searched.

“I had to move into a hotel for the night,” she said.

“The member of the family suspected of involvement had absolutely nothing to do with it.

“The person vigorously denies they were involved. I am sick and tired of the family being targeted.

“I know four other families have received similar treatment. It’s just not fair.

“I’m convinced the answer to this murder lies well outside the Mold area.

“It’s wrong for the police to say the murder is casting a shadow over the town.

“There is nothing to suggest anyone local was connected with it.

“The new investigation is a waste of money – a complete farce. I wish the police would concentrate on finding the killer of pensioner Elsie Hughes of Cefn y Bedd – that’s a crime people really are worried about.”

Detective Sergeant Kevin Evans said: “Where a crime as serious as murder remains unresolved, North Wales Police will never close the books on the investigation.

“We are as determined to resolve the callous murder of Elsie Hughes as we are the attack on Paul Savage.

“We will do what it takes to bring the killers to justice and would ask any person with information to come forward.”

DS Evans added that if Ms Davies could assist the team in anyway she should call them.
