Robbers smash through post office roof

ROBBERS broke into a post office through the roof.

Two raiders struck at around 5.20pm yesterday at the cash office of the Little Hulton Post Office in the Hulton District Centre.

They smashed their way through the skylight on the roof, using a concrete fence post to smash the glass. One of the members of staff suffered minor injuries as a result and was taken to hospital for observation.

Staff ran for cover while the men took cash and left the post office through the front door.

They ran up the Little Hulton precinct, turned left and then continued towards Haysbrook Avenue.

The men were white and between 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in tall.

One was dressed in dark clothes and the other was wearing a grey top.

They were both wearing balaclavas.

Detective Constable Sarah Thomas said: "It is lucky that nobody was more seriously hurt in this crime."

"We are appealing to people in the precinct at that time for information, particularly if you saw men matching these descriptions before or after the robbery."

The problem is that it would cost more to increase security than it costs in lost money and you know that those at the top don't care about people only about the bottom line.

Unfortunately I know the govt and management don't care, its immoral, the trauma of being threatened with a shotgun can be underestimated, after all one sub Post Office staff recently was killed in the line of duty, if there was such a security system, he would have been alive today, it could have been made cheaper using economy of scale by mass producing these security items, then rolling it out throughout the country, which would work out far cheaper than hot potch implementation.
