The Post Office has set up a memorial fund in memory of Mr Craig Hodson-Walker who tragically died after he was shot during an armed robbery last Friday (January 9) at the Fairfield Post Office and Stores in Stourbridge Road, Fairfield.

Alan Cook, the Post Office’s Managing Director, said: "We would like to thank all those people who have contacted us with expressions of sympathy and offers of support. Our thoughts remain with the family and we are doing all we can to support them at this very sad and difficult time."

The memorial fund has been set up with the approval of the Craig’s family. Donations can be made over the counter at any Post Office branch using Freepay account number 2011 and the name of the fund: "Craig Hodson-Walker Memorial Fund".

The proceeds of the fund will be used to create a lasting memorial to Craig, the form of which will be decided by his family in conjunction with Post Office Ltd.

Post Office colleagues and customers at branches throughout the network observed a two-minute silence in honour of Craig at 11am this morning.

George Thomson, General Secretary of The National Federation of SubPostmasters, said: "The Federation and its members also observed today’s two-minute silence and we welcome the fund in Craig’s memory as we want to express our continuing sympathy for his family."
