IF your postman is an unsung hero Royal Mail bosses want to hear from you.

The company is keen to hear stories about postmen and women who are charity fundraisers in their spare time, or have performed a public-spirited act or dealt with an emergency while doing their deliveries.

There is more than £30,000 prize money to be won, every shortlisted postie receives £100, and residents who nominate someone will be entered into a prize draw to win £1,000 in holiday vouchers.

Geoff Braden, Royal Mail’s area general manager, said: “Postmen and women frequently go to the aid of customers in distress, and because they visit the same neighbourhood on a daily basis will notice when an old person isn’t around, and can raise the alarm.

“It is these employees, who help local people with their acts of kindness, or voluntary work that we want to hear about, as well as the incredible feats of bravery our postmen and women perform each year.”

Customers should explain what makes their postman or woman special and send their nominations to: 1st Class People Awards, Royal Mail, 1st Floor, 148 Old Street, London EC1V 9HQ, or email them to nominations@royalmail.com The closing date is Friday, January 30, and it does not matter if you don’t know the posties name, Royal Mail will be able to identify them from the delivery address, postcode or brief description.

He's having a laugh, people constantly moving duties will never notice whenever someone isn't around plus we're forced to go so quickly we'll be lucky to notice a dead body on the street.
