Wales should make its stamp

THE Royal Mail announces that it is issuing a special set of commemorative stamps called Celebrating Wales on February 26.

It will be interesting to see what they come up with, considering there is not a single Welsh person involved in the highly secretive selection process.

Surely, though, it’s about time that Wales had the right to issue stamps on topics it feels worthy of celebration throughout the year.

Last year we could have had stamps celebrating our sporting and musical achievers, the centenary of our National Museum and notable characters from history such as Dic Penderyn’s birthday bicentenary.

While they think about that, is it not time that we could also buy from shops, books of the Welsh versions of definitive stamps for everyday postage, especially as we are being asked to pay 10% more for the privilege from April?
