BATHGATE-BORN Doctor Who star David Tennant has described his latest mission – to make his Christmas shopping materialise in time.
The 37-year-old actor was forced to abandon his festive shopping plans after he had back surgery two weeks ago when a prolapsed disc meant he had to drop out of his role playing Hamlet.
In an interview with Radio One's Edith Bowman, he said he had planned to do his Christmas shopping near the theatre in London's West End.
But he said: "That's all gone a bit wrong. Everything has been bought on-line and quite quickly. I'm just crossing my fingers it will get there in time."
Tennant – who is quitting the sci-fi show – plans to spend Christmas with his family in Bathgate and might just find time to watch the Dr Who Christmas Day special which was recorded in the spring.
Playing the Doctor's foe in tomorrow's programme is actress Dervla Kirwan, better known for her honey-toned voiceovers for Marks & Spencer adverts. She has the pupils of her eyes blacked out and dons futuristic headgear to play a character called Miss Hartigan. Her character helps the Cybermen, who stalk the snow in London on Christmas Eve 185
