A FRIENDLY family man who was the town's longest-serving postman when he retired has died, aged 65.
Allan Kay passed away suddenly in hospital on Saturday, December 6 after a short illness.
Allan, of Mardale Avenue, was a well-known and popular local figure both during his 43 years of service with Morecambe post office and during his retirement.

He spent all his working life at the Morecambe delivery office, beginning straight from school in 1959.
Allan got up for his shift at four in the morning and worked until lunchtime, and could often be seen riding his bicycle to deliver mail in all weather conditions throughout Morecambe and Heysham.
He was also responsible for maintaining the posties' bicycles for over 30 years.
Allan retired in 2003 and enjoyed his retirement years.
His motorhome was his pride and joy. He also enjoyed walking and was a member of two rambling clubs – the Church of Ascension and Sefton Road.
Allan loved to help others – doing many odd jobs for friends, family and for elderly people who lived nearby.
He also did charity work and was out working for the Operation Christmas Child shoebox appeal when he was taken ill over two weeks ago.
Allan is survived by his wife Jennifer and children Mark, Darren, Stephen and Julie, and his three grandchildren.
His funeral was yesterday at Torrisholme Methodist Church followed by commital at The Crematorium.
