LOCAL heroes Histon FC have odds of 10,000-1 to lift the FA Cup - but manager Steve Fallon believes it is worth a punt.

Bookmakers William Hill have put the Stutes as rank outsiders and given Swansea a 150-1 chance of winning the trophy.

The Swans are also 1- 6 favourites to beat the Blue Square Premier team with Histon at 7-2 to win the crucial match on January 3.

But Mr Fallon has Roy of the Rovers style lucky charms on his feet - and a secret talisman up his sleeve
* which he hopes will see his team get through the next round.

He said: "It's worth putting a pound or two on. I think I will be putting a couple of quid on us to win the cup at those odds. I thought we might get better odds against Swansea though. I think we can beat them. We've already beaten two League One teams. We would still be after a big club for the next round which would give us a big pay day. We would rather be at their ground just because we would make more money. We can only take about 7,000 at our ground."

But if the managers of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United meet Histon it is unlikely they have suffered for their teams as much as Steve Fallon.

He said: "I have an old watch strap that needs replacing badly but I may not be getting a new one until it's all over.

"I borrowed a pair of our goalkeeper Danny Naisbitt's boots which I have worn since the tournament started.

Even though they are too tight and are killing my feet, I am not buying a new pair."

And goal scoring hero Matt Langston has become a media star since the win appearing on TV and in national newspapers.

But he was back sorting mail less than 24 hours after sorting out Leeds.

The Histon defender received a hero's welcome when he walked into the St Albans sorting office at 6am on Monday.

The £30,000 prize money for reaching the third round is another big boost for the club.

Chairman Gareth Baldwin, who gave each player a £1,000 bonus for beating Leeds, said: "We've probably generated £300,000 from the FA Cup so far, including £80,000 from television money, gate receipts, sponsorship and £30,000 for beating Leeds."
