ROYAL MAIL is geared up to deliver a first class Christmas across the DD postcode area, with an expected bumper festive mailbag of 11 million items.
More than 550 Royal Mail postal staff will be working flat out to ensure customers in the area get all their Christmas cards, letters and parcels.

The operation will also involve an additional 10 vehicles on top of the normal 157-strong transport

fleet in the DD postcode. Postmen and women across the area will also use more than 77 bicycles as they go about their rounds. There are 464 postboxes in Dundee and Angus to post Christmas cards.

To avoid disappointment Royal Mail would urge all customers to take a few easy steps:

Use a first class stamp! - post first class for just 36p and have your Christmas card delivered the next day - anywhere in the UK.

Post early! - Avoid disappointment by posting your cards and parcels early. The last posting dates this Christmas are: December 18 for second class mail; December 20 for first class mail; and December 23 for special delivery.

Use a postcode! - A clearly addressed card or parcel, with a postcode, and return address on the back of the envelope, will ensure quick and efficient delivery.

Use special delivery - For valuable packages and parcels guarantee delivery with Royal Mail's special delivery, which means your gift is tracked, traced and insured against loss.

For more information about Christmas with Royal Mail visit http://www.royalmail.com or call 08457 740 740.

Ricky McAulay, Royal Mail area general manager for the East of Scotland, said: "This is the busiest time of year for Royal Mail in the Dundee and Angus area and all our postmen and women, will be working flat out to deliver a First Class Christmas to everyone in the area.

"We need our customers to help us to make sure all the cards and parcels are delivered before Christmas by posting early so as to beat the last posting dates."

A joke rendition of the same song paraphrased

You say no when there is docket
In the toilet You are thunder
You are all we don't need, all we don't need
You are riot where posties want peace
In the turmoil there is coffee
You are all we don't need, all we don't need
I want the world to know
That there is one shining hope
I want the world to know RMC

To the broken You are continually calling
To your heart of stone you are revealing
You are all we don't need, all we don't need
You are dictator to the lonely
The forever one and only
You are all we don't need, all we don't need
I want the world to know
The story must be told
I want the world to know the Truth
I want the world to know
That there is one shining hope
I want the world to know RMC

You are hated when there is pressure
You are antilife and You are scared
You are all we don't need, all we don't need
I want the world to know
The story must be told
I want the world to know the Truth
I want the world to know
That There is one shining hope
I want the world to know RMC
