Herefordshire postmen produce special delivery

A PAIR of fundraising postmen have delivered a massive boost to a Hereford charity.

Mike Chandler and Glyn Jones have raised more than £17,000 after cycling to Yorkshire and back for Breast Cancer Haven.

Dressed in pink jackets and carrying supplies, the pair left Hereford on October 12 to deliver a letter to the new Haven in Leeds.

They finally got off their bikes in St Owen Street, having cycled 330 miles in six days.

The pair, from Kings Acre and Bodenham, both lost their mothers to cancer and were determined to help the charity.

Mr Chandler said the trip was hardgoing, but worth it.

“It was a mini-adventure but my thighs still haven’t recovered – neither of us is a cyclist, and I only got my first bike in May,” he said.

“We’ve already received more than £17,000 and, given the economic times, that’s much better that we hoped for.”
