Worst kept secret in the world though to say that it would recommend Super Hubs. Not only have we been commenting on them here AL and AC have made no secret of their preference for this.

One thing as a DO that bothers me is that with Super Hubs is that at present if something goes wrong at one MC/SO there is enough capacity in the system to divert the pipeline around and still keep the mail flowing. However if the Super Hubs are 100s of miles apart and one goes down because of an incident its going to affect a very large geographical area indeed.

Mind you :lfo is from a Supermarket background and they tend to use this system to stock shelves its called NIRST (Need it right this second) or "Just in Time" delivery - so he is still trying to get RM to operate like ASDA.

"Was" is the operative word here. Times are a changing. No one wants to see these jobs go but however you look at it, centralising sorting will save millions, possibly billions and Hooper will see it working successfully elsewhere and recommend restructuring that continues along those lines. "We can only win" is well and truly dead as I've said for a very long time now. Its no good working on the fine details of working conditions or standing outside with a bobble hat on when the bulldozers are already being fired up.

I couldn't bear Thatcher, but she was dead against this federalised Europe and thats what we've got now.

If this monstrous plan goes through it will be the death of many a small business and of the service we provide for the nation of this land we call great britain!. For it will not be so great anymore with this masterplan of destuction of the postal service it will not only cost the job's of the royalmail postmen/women but million's of other worker's in small buisness up and down the land!. Can our small buisness cope with the 48 hour or even 72 hour delay up on top of the status quo this can only make the current recession harder longer and deeper!. Can we now all in this land look foward to beggin bowl's and soup kitchens like the 1930's just so some toff's can make a profit out of a service that is vital to our nation for if this continue's we will not be so great as we are now!.

The tail end of "Great Britain" was actually in the 50s. We haven't been that for a long time. It harps back to the days of the emprire, much of which we try to hide under the rug cos' not all of it was good OR great, only to bring it out in some sudden rush of patriotism. Its a myth that we hang on to but we're part of federal europe now.

And why do we do as we do alone headlong into the abyss of the free market when other nation's do not?. Is now not the time too demand of our leader's (GORDON BROWN) why are we persueing this policy of selfdestruction of our postal system and their for our nation!. It is a great tragedy nay a betrail of our nation that we find the state of our nation in the position it is!. We should all demand that the government of this country serve's the people of this nation and not the interests of big buisness to the detriment of small buisness and the nation as a whole!.

Admiral speech and don't disagree but its all 'should' and 'if' but in reality people won't 'stand up an be counted'. The Brits don't as a whole. Unless Brown is hounded from office, and preferably the entire government, or the CWU has a trick up its sleeve we don't know about, this will go through unopposed.

Very true K979aaa, but we as a nation have people who won't fight anymore, Night tonic is a classic example of this and he/she is not alone. Successive governments have hammered the working class while preaching to be "for" the working class to help win the vote and get in to power and then only to find we have had our pants pulled down. Carving up/Selling off the Postal system won't improve anything, a few at the top will make a few quid and disappear while the ones at the bottom will be signing on the dole or doing other things in order to make ends meet, as you can see all good news!

Over the last 30 years I have worked for two companies that decide to shut the lot and open a super centre. Both companies were around for over 120 years until then. Now, both companies are dead. One job had 17 managers and 17 dispatchers. Once new super office opened it had 4 dispatchers and one manager. Customers wee phoning up and could not get through. Could not get an engineer. Could not get supplies. Could not get parts. So what did they do after the moaned a few times? Yes they phuqed off to a company that could supply all that.
Then the company started giving some staff early retirement and making others redundant. When the firm finally sunk in 1995 they found the pension underfunded by 6 million. Now 13 years later it is still being investigated and I may get my money back cos the greedy scrotums called directors stole it all from me and many other loyal staff as a thank you, while they got drunk every day trying to save the company. So WATCH THIS SPACE YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST.
