ROYAL FAIL Moment postie trips over and breaks fence before miserably failing to fix it

THIS is the hilarious moment a postman trips into a flimsy fence and face plants before desperately trying to patch up the damage he caused.

The viral clip, which has more than four million views on X, shows the unlucky postie taking a tumble while delivering mail in the pouring rain.

Though the homeowner who shared the footage demanded answers from Royal Mail, many people reacting to the clip rushed to the defence of the embarrassed worker.

The footage begins with the postman approaching a property as the rain hammers down around him.

He attempts to step over a low wooden barrier separating the pavement from the front garden.

But the move quickly goes wrong.

As he lifts his leg over the obstacle, he appears to misjudge the height and catches his foot.

The postie is then sent sprawling forwards, smashing through the fence before crashing face-first on to the ground.

Two wooden planks snap apart as he lands heavily in the property’s front yard.

The man quickly gets back to his feet and surveys the damage.

He then makes an awkward attempt to repair the fence, lifting one of the broken planks and trying to prop it back into place.

After a brief struggle, he appears to realise the fix isn’t going to work.

The postman eventually abandons the repair job altogether and heads to the front door, where he rings the bell.

The man who posted the footage claimed the mishap happened at his daughter’s property and said he had contacted Royal Mail about repairing the damage.

In a post online, he wrote: “Hey Royal Mail, can you get your postie to bring some tools tomorrow to fix the fence properly.

“It’s there for a reason.”

He claimed the barrier had been installed to stop dogs walking on the grass.

But many social media users were far more critical of the fence than they were of the postman.

One wrote: “Ever heard of an email, why the need to put this on social media.

“What is with people having to humiliate others on social media and bring them down. Pathetic.”

Another said: “It was obviously an accident. Get a hammer and some nails and put the silly bits of wood back together and get over it.”

A third added: “The fella made a tiny, irrelevant mistake, hopping over a fence that literally tempts people to hop over it.

“You can see the look on his face that he felt bad about it. There isn’t a person on the planet who doesn’t take the odd convenient shortcut.”

“You can see the look on his face that he felt bad about it. There isn’t a person on the planet who doesn’t take the odd convenient shortcut. You will, I do, he did, your family will. It’s normal.

“He clearly isn’t a bad person and clearly didn’t mean any harm. He was obviously going to apologise too based on his body language.”

One user blasted the homeowner, saying: “Could just get a hammer & some nails out take 5 mins to sort that sh*t fence out. Instead you put him is social & risk his job. Top guy you ain’t ya.”

Another wrote: “Flimsy fence in the way, postie slips and breaks it while delivering in the p**sing rain… and you’re shaming him online? Sort it yourself lad, don’t go crying to Royal Mail.”

Others questioned whether the structure qualified as a fence at all.

One said: “That has to be the most annoyingly useless fence I have ever seen.”

Another posted: “It’s not a fence it’s a trip hazard.would remove it before any else sues you. Ps get stop being a keyboard warrior, nobody likes a whiny grass.”

A further commenter raised privacy concerns, writing: “Posting identifiable CCTV footage of a Royal Mail worker publicly on X is not the same as reporting an issue to Royal Mail.

“If there is a complaint, send it privately to Royal Mail. Publicly uploading someone’s image, location and timestamp from domestic CCTV looks like a data protection issue to me.”

The Sun has contacted Royal Mail for comment.

Thankfully we hadn't yet sleepwalked into a panopticon when I got caught on a customer's gate while the wall collapsed.

What fantastic journalism. Here's a comment they can reprint: remember, journos, you're one of the most despised professions in the country.
The machine stops.
