An MP has secured action from Royal Mail after widespread complaints about delivery delays.
Chris Ward, MP for Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven, met with Royal Mail management at his constituency office on Wednesday, April 8, following ongoing concerns about disrupted mail service across the area.
He arranged the meeting after writing to Royal Mail to demand a clear plan to address the issues, which he described as "incredibly frustrating."
Mr Ward said: "Royal Mail is one of our great national institutions and I am determined to see it succeed.
"It has been incredibly frustrating to hear from so many residents, particularly in Saltdean and Rottingdean, about ongoing delivery problems.
"That’s why I invited Royal Mail to my office to discuss how they are going to better support my constituents."
Royal Mail representatives apologised for the disruption and outlined steps to improve performance, including a recruitment drive to boost staffing levels in affected areas.
Mr Ward described the meeting as "constructive" and said he would continue to monitor progress.
He said: "I have been assured that a recruitment plan is now in place to significantly boost staffing levels in Saltdean and Rottingdean and get deliveries back on track.
"That’s good news for our local community, and I’ll be monitoring progress closely to make sure residents see the improvements they deserve."
Mr Ward has been running a campaign encouraging residents to share their experiences of mail delays.
He said their input had helped build a detailed understanding of the problem and strengthen the case for urgent action.
