Royal Mail apologise to Falkirk resident for mistaking food delivery for electric guitar

A mighty big mail mix-up resulted in a box of tasty snacks being sent to a person 300 miles away – instead of the £1000 electric guitar he was expecting.
According to details posted on the Courier Checker Facebook site, a Falkirk resident recently booked a collection slot for Royal Mail to pick up an Ibanez guitar he had sold online for £1000.

However, when nobody arrived during the scheduled window, the frustrated man left his boxed up instrument inside his home and headed to work thinking he could post it later on.

When his partner returned home in the evening, she discovered their £80 Gousto meal delivery, which had been dropped off by DPD, had vanished from the doorstep where she had expected to find it.
It had not been pinched though as the couple soon discovered when an e-mail from Royal Mail confirmed their postal staff had collected an item from the address.

Piecing events together the man and his wife soon worked out the Royal Mail courier had taken the food box, clearly branded with the Gousto logo, instead of the guitar, and then sent it on its way to the guitar buyer in Manchester.

The perplexed Falkirk resident was forced to order a £40 takeaway that evening for his dinner and then spent the following day trying to intercept the errant delivery and post the actual guitar to the person who had stumped up £1000 for.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: "We're sorry that an incorrect item was collected and understand how frustrating this must have been for the customer. Our delivery colleagues are expected to follow clear collection procedures at all times, and we will address this directly."

Gousto has since refunded the missing food box.

That is not the end of the tale, however.

The guitar was eventually posted by the Falkirk resident from his his local post office.

Unfortunately it is now believed to be on its way back to his address after failing to reach its intended destination.

At this rate this story could run on longer than one of Eric Clapton’s guitar solos.

Why on earth didn't he do this in the first place, what an idiot, no apology necessary by Royal Mail, it's his own stupid fault.

Haha the Falkirk Herald is a bit late with this news, here's the gormless twat when he first featured on an article about 10 days ago
