Nearly 90 Colchester residents have shared on social media how delayed post has affected their lives.

After the Gazette published an article regarding an alleged 10-day wait for post across areas such as Berechurch and Shrub End, we asked our readers for their thoughts.

Many made reference to missing important letters and even a Christmas card which was delivered a month after December 25.

Momo Humble said: "We don't see a postman for days, it's all wrong if waiting for important letters like hospital appointments."

Nicki Taylor said: "Only seem to get post every two to three weeks, then get loads together."

Keya Sankey said: "I’m lucky if I get mail once a week, it’s terrible."

Louise Clark-Bowen said: "I've had my appointment through the app but to check if in person or phone consultation I need to check the letter. Not had the letter yet of course.

"If I'm lucky I get mail every five to 10 days."

Sandra Jones said: "My husband had an appointment for an endoscopy at The Oaks last Wednesday.

"On the Thursday afternoon afterwards, he received a letter from the NHS detailing all the information he needed to know about the procedure."

Sarah White said: "How about a Christmas card which arrived on 25th January.

" It would have quicker for my friends to have walked from Sheffield to deliver it."

Allie Passfield said: "I was waiting on my cancer test appointments in the post.

"Invariably they were late, so I now use my chart for Addenbrookes, Papworth and Colchester. Given up on letters.

"Apparently Royal Mail are concentrating on parcels now."

Jane Summons said: "Down New Kiln Road we are lucky if we get post once a fortnight."

Rachel Grant said: "This issue has been ongoing for a very long time and it’s becoming increasingly annoying and frustrating.

"Missing hospital appointments and other important letters for children like I have or court documents is not okay.

"I’ll be lucky if I receive post once a week and I know the letters have been posted because proof has been shown.

"I don’t expect post everyday, but I do expect when a letter has been sent I receive it."
