Train Robber Ronnie Biggs May Be Freed in 2009, Guardian Says

By Laura Price

Oct. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Ronnie Biggs, known as the ``great train robber,'' is likely to be released from prison next February, the Guardian reported, citing Mike Gray, a friend of Biggs's.

Biggs, 79, was one of the people involved in stealing 2.5 million pounds ($4.4 million) from a U.K. Royal Mail train more than 45 years ago, the newspaper said. Biggs escaped from a London prison in 1965 after receiving a 30-year sentence and spent 35 years on the run, mostly in Brazil, the Guardian said.

Biggs returned voluntarily to the U.K. in 2001 due to health problems, the London-based newspaper said.

When Biggs was in first in prison pre escape, his wife wrote to him and said I am going to dig up the garden to plant some spuds. He panicked and wrote back, whatever you do love, dont dig up the garden. The screws were screaning his mail and alerted the filth as they thought they found the hiding place for the stolen train money. A few days later, biggs wife wrote to him again to say some very nice men have been round and dug up the garden. Biggs wrote back and said.....................wait for it......................NOW PLANT THE SPUDS Ha ha hooo ha ha thats a craka :dance :dance :dance
"I once asked a girl if she was an undertaker cos i had a stiff that needed seeing too"

" I once went into a watch menders, slapped me knob on the desk and said can you put a couple of hands on that?"
