The "luckiest postman alive" narrowly cheated death when a huge tree crashed onto a postbox in front of him.

Adam Wilson, 40, says he was just "15 seconds" away from being crushed by the 300-year-old oak tree. The postie was delivering mail on Ripon Road in Ronkswood, Worcester, on Thursday (21/3) morning when the tree toppled over.

The 40ft-high tree missed Adam by a matter of inches while several heavy branches came down on a nearby postbox.

The dad-of-three said: "I have to be the luckiest postman alive. In another 15 seconds I would have been standing directly underneath the falling tree."

Adam said a "mix-up" with the mail meant there was a momentary delay which saved his life.

"Employers are always seeking more productivity from workers, without considering the human factor, the worker's age, the weather conditions and the intense heat. We need to intervene before it's too late, reducing working hours and the load carried by workers, because it's impossible to sustain the rhythm they're forced to work at for many years."

His COM demanded to know WHY he'd hadn't scanned the letterbox, it had caused HIM a lot of trouble because he'd had to explain to the ROD on his conference call! :left:
Like all Wage Slaves, he had two crosses to bear: The people he worked for and the people he worked with! (Stephen Vizinczey.)

The COM also noted, that he was 'idle for 3 minutes after the event' and he will receive coaching on how to make better use of his time. A warning was not used this time but the event has been noted.

Probably the next money saving exercise, I'm surprised they haven't thought of it already, do away with uniform apart from a Royal Mail hi viz, it would save them a fortune, to be fair most of the vans are a disgrace so what's the point of a professional looking corporate uniform.
