Amsterdam - Employees of Dutch mail company TNT are to take relay strike action in response to the failure of negotiations on a new collective labour agreement. Next Wednesday there will be no mail delivery in The Hague, and two days later it will be Amsterdammers who find their letterboxes empty. The action will be followed by a national strike on 27 May. Last week TNT employees also held a protest at a shareholders meeting.
The unions are demanding a 3.5 percent pay rise. TNT thinks this is too high and says it is not prepared to make a better offer. The negotiations on the new collective labour agreement have been going on for more than a year.
