By day he is a friendly neighbourhood postman, but by night Danny Cubitt can be found locked, semi-naked, grappling in a cage.

The 24-year-old has worked as a postman in his hometown of North Walsham for the last five years, but in just a few weeks he will be taking part in his first competitive cage fight.

On Saturday, April 12 he will appear at the Troxy Nightclub in London to take part in his first paid-for bout.

The sport combines several martial art disciplines and sees competitors fight each other in a cage until one of them submits.

However, Mr Cubitt, who is single and lives in Thirlby Road, said there were strict rules in place to ensure safety is paramount.

He said: “The fights are strictly refereed, also there are medics in attendance at each fight, and if the worst should happen there is lots of insurance behind us.

“The sport has a safety first motto, and touch wood, I haven't been hurt yet.â€
