LIVERPOOL’S council leader today pledged to fight to save hundreds of threatened postal jobs.
The ECHO revealed on Thursday how union bosses fear the city’s Copperas Hill sorting office could be axed, 11 years after the plant was last rescued.
They are concerned a new review of resources could resurrect plans to transfer work to Warrington.
Council leader Warren Bradley said: “Losing these jobs would have a huge impact on the city.
“We have lost post offices from our communities and it would be criminal to lose these jobs as well.
“I want a meeting with Royal Mail where I will tell them they have got to stay. We have turned around Liverpool’s employment prospects and this would be a real kick in the teeth.â€
