In the middle of nowhere?

AN Anderton pensioner who rang to complain her post hadn't arrived was told: "You live in the middle of nowhere and we've got no staff."

Janet Elrin, of Marbury Road, Anderton, was without post for five days from Saturday to Wednesday last week.

The 60-year-old usually gets mail every day as she does a lot of work for Vale Royal Abbey Golf Club, in Whitegate, with her husband Nils, 67.

Janet said: "It took me ages to get through to anyone at all to find out what was happening.

"The woman was extremely rude and said they only deliver to main roads and we lived in the middle of nowhere.

"She also said there were staff off sick and staff on holiday and they couldn't deliver the post. How can you make decisions like that?

"And what would have happened if someone had paid all that money for a recorded delivery?"

Nils was forced to get someone to hand deliver some vital paperwork that urgently needed to be sorted out.

Janet added: "The fact is that I live 10 minutes from Northwich town centre and I do not live in the middle of nowhere.

"I have spoken to other people down the other end of Marbury Road and they have also been affected."

A Royal Mail spokesman said: "Our Northwich delivery office was short-staffed early last week due to sickness and annual leave.

"To maintain deliveries managers were used but it is possible that on one day, residents in the Marbury Road area of Anderton did not receive their mail - and we apologise to them."

the shape of things to come get used to it folks i wonder if any managers have been sacked for failure to deliver or delaying the mail seems as usual that the rules are only there to be ignored until postcom drop another big fine on us
