The policy on monthly pay is the same as that which was made in 2007.

That policy is that as part of phase 4 talks RML and CWU will look at how to implement monthly pay.

Dave Ward made it very clear at the time that if monthly pay agreement was reached it would subject to a membership ballot in order for the membership to make the decision.

Yes I think that vote will be on the same ballot paper that the pension vote will be on - remember that pension problem - decoupled from the original agreement ballot - well we're still waiting - you see some of us DO see the REALLY BIG PICTURE and don't forget the promises made - unfortunately not promises to keep it seems.

The pension is THE big ticket item here for all of us. This will cost each and every one of us £thousands A YEAR when we retire. All this bullshit about meal breaks and a few quid a week here and there is nothing compared to this. Where are the negotiations on our f***ing PENSION!! There can be no agreement without this being resolved.

I agree the pension issue is massive , but it is not within the gift of Royal Mail to resolve. It is a politcal issue and has to be resolved by the Government. The new defcit will have to be resolved by June 2010 and is expected to have increased to 10 billion. Currently Royal Mail are re -paying 70 pence in every pound it makes into the pension deficit blackhole. The new defcit will mean that it cannot make money and threatens its future. Plus Bydon has already announced that if the defcit has increased then Royal Mail will close the pension scheme for existing members. That is totally unacceptable , especially as we have payed 6% of our wages into our pensions each week and the fact that Royal Mail in POSS took a pension holiday for 13 years which in nowadays terms would be about 4 billion pounds.

There have been on-going discussions on pensions but Pat Mcfadden the minster in charge of Royal Mail policy is still refusing to resolve pensions in isolation from partial privitisation which should in my opinion result in the CWU withdrawing any funding now or in the future from the Labour party.

Remember the way the defcit is calcualted is on the basis that should everyone reitre on the same day thats what would be needed to pay out. Of course that is not going to happen and the government could easily take on the pension deficit without risk and they would also own some of our pension fund assets which total 27 billion pounds.

Daz I realise some are local reps or members but when indivduals generalise they should also realise what the wider view is around the UK. Fishtank yes they are snippets but they are factural from the Divisional Reps from around the UK based on them speaking to Branch secretaries and area reps and regional directors.

Dvbuk I dont mind have debates with you about issues which we differ on but I do think you are seeing things where there are not. Every Divison and every region have their own banner does that mean they are seperate from the national union. Most have their own websites or newsletters titled Midlands , or North East or North West. Yet we in London put out a joint comms to our members and mention CWU LOndon and you have an issue with it. Why ?

Now with regards to geo route 2 , it is the classic Royal Mail con trick. Due to the fact that Royal Mail have come under some critictism over walking speeds they have adjusted the package and lowered it on terrains etc but as normal cut the time on putting letters through the letter boxes and call rates to make up for the lowering of walks speeds. The CWU in the national talks are discussing this package in the talks.

Anglia -2 cases resolved 2 awaiting NAP and 3 awaiting review. Progress made on overtime and casuals. intial problems with absorbtion and resoucing but problems overcome and re-engagment taking place.

I have met my area rep,branch secretary,Divisional rep and regional director once since Nov 5th.
All 4 of them at once on Monday.
I am well aware of the tactics used to produce these results in such a short space of time.
What surprised me was the unions eagerness to comply.
