Re: Managers to strike ?
Regardless of what my thoughts on managers are, I still think it would be better for us all to refuse to cross.
RM can manage without a load of Doms but they are up sh*t creek without us to deliver and if that
helps bring media into the situation then it can be worked to our advantage.
However, I know how hard it would be to support them when they have
stabbed us in the back in the past.

The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.
The time has come for union.

Re: Managers to strike ?
Here is a question for you - what would you do if a managers strike was called and the CWU asked us to support it by not crossing picket lines, but when you got to your office on the day of action what would you do if there was no picket line.
A. Go to work as normal and follow the instructions of strike breakers.
B. Refuse to work in support of the striking managers even though they all break the strike at your office.
C. Or were you going to cross it any way and don't care if you have to follow the managers instructions.
One thing for sure is that its a moral minefield if we don't get solid support or guidance from the CWU if this unlikely event of Operational managers agreeing to IA.

C, No moral minefield for me,
But it's all pointless they won't strike or picket.
Yeah let us fight their battle and lose money & good people while they strike break and continue with the intimidation.

Re: Managers to strike ?
If they are fighting compulsory redundancy....i will support their fight.
It's not a moral minefield.... it's a survival thing.
They are targeting management with compulsory redundancies first to negate any outcry when they target OPGs.
If the weak "non-union" CMA can force Royal Mail to climb down over this...we might have more of a chance.
I personally think they will struggle to get any mandate for industrial action but if they do i hope it's successful....anything else just strengthens Royal Mails hand and weakens ours.

Re: Managers to strike ?
If the CWU asked us to support the CMA Strike (if there IS one). Then I wouldn't even set off for work. Picket Line, or no Picket Line. If I'm asked by my Union, to support another Union's official IA, I'll do it. But I sincerely hope that, that doesn't happen. Because I'd hate to be put a position, where I'd have support those who've underined countless CWU Stikes!TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Here is a question for you - what would you do if a managers strike was called and the CWU asked us to support it by not crossing picket lines, but when you got to your office on the day of action what would you do if there was no picket line.

A more likley situation, would be for the CWU to ask us not to cross CMA Picket Lines, but say nothing about supporting the Managers. In which case, I'd do exactly what I'm planning to do anyway: Turn up. And if there's no Picket Line, go to work as normal. If there IS a Picket Line, turn 'round, and go Home.

Re: Managers to strike ?
I can't see that happening. Why on Earth, would the CWU ask us to support the Managers. After the way they've behaved during our Strikes? I've explained what I'd do in the hypothetical situation of the CWU asking us to support the Managers. But I'm not expecting that. I think at most, the CWU will ask us not to cross the Picket Lines. Which is something that no true Trade Unionist, would even consider doing anyway.97gaz wrote:If the CWU ask me to support their strike then I'll have no hesitation........

A PICKET LINE, IS A PICKET LINE! It makes no difference who's it is or why they're Striking. DON'T CROSS THE LINES! There's a term for those who do. But we're not allowed to use it on here.....

A picket line is a picket line yes your quiet right BUT thier disput is thier disput not ours which is why they crossed ours when we was out,the CWU would not ask us to support the managers tea club
as you could not call it a union
,all managers have been given ballot forms and from what the managers said yesterday they are not going to go out on strike
so i really dont see the spineless fools ever doing anything about the situation they have found themselves in,if they dont do something then they deserve all what they get
which is how they would feel if it was us.

Re: Managers to strike ?
Depends. If it was only a matter of losing a day's pay, than no, I wouldn't cross the line that wasn't there. Anything more serious - with the exception maybe of a Stage 1 warning - I would.

Re: Managers to strike ?
I wonder what would happen if two thirds of the management were going to get the axe...would they strike?
Probably not, to many of them thinking about their next bonus.

It's not about how many go...i couldn't care less if they get rid of 90% of them.
This is about how Royal Mail choose to get rid of them and what effect that has on business policy with regards to compulsory redundancy.
