The old "my job's harder than yours" routine eh? As if you could make any sort of truthful or valid comparison. How old are you, ten?As you put it. Not a job I want, wonder why, oh I forgot you would have to work for a living instead of sat on your backside in a MC with on the tap coffee & toilet facility
So if you get paid "brilliant wages" it makes a job somehow easier, does it?,& as for the other jobs mentioned most are careers that pay brilliant wages, compared to our meagre wage which we work bloody hard for on delivery,

Absolutely.
Its surely retarded to assume otherwise.
Its a commonly held notion in the UK that the more you are paid the less 'work' you actually do.

"Retarded"? You sure you meant to use that word?So if you get paid "brilliant wages" it makes a job somehow easier, does it?
Absolutely.
Its surely retarded to assume otherwise.
So if delivery posties were paid say, £600 a week, then they wouldn't be so knackered when they go home? Tripe. They'd be just as tired, but better paid for it.
A daft notion usually held by those doing physical work for poor wages. More tripe, of course. Its a commonly held notion in the UK that the more you are paid the less 'work' you actually do.

Trouble is with tman and night tonic, they find it hard to understand that in delivery 1400 items is greater than 1200 items 2 years ago - its a concept they are struggling to deal with but thats ok, we understand you don't handle all mail the in the mail centre do you? NO! - and yes TNT do use RM mail centres, very good but they also outsource mail, centrica is one who walksorts mail on behalf of TNT at a joint location and then it is fed in to delivery offices via a RM mail centre but its not sorted, what would be the point?
CUT OFF!!!

Re: I Don't Support Postal Strike - Postman
If deliveries aint your world, and MCs do not process all DSA companies mail, and the fact that RM have changed the way they record the statistics for volumes why are you commenting on Delivery matters. You have admitted you have no experience in it. I don't argue that there has been a drop in volumes that was always going to happen with PIP. But it is a fact that I do question RMs figures about the overall drop. I would estimate if I had to probably no more than 5% drop in volume
However, my bag is heavier because individual items of mail are now heavier on average, I now carry large packets than I did before and my walk has more DPs on it than it did last year and the year before that.
The reason we Delivery posties get angry with RM and YOU - is that they keeping shoving the "mail is down" mantra down our throats, and using it to cut duties and make walks longer when there is no capacity to do so, and you using it to degenerate posties (your comment about doctors etc)
Now please empathise with us instead of beating us with I work in an MC and we have less work - frankly we don't care - We do have more work, we are working harder, our bags are heavier and we are out on deliveries longer and deliver to more houses with less posties than before.
Now perhaps you can understand why we get so pissed off when people say volumes are down - ok they may but we are working harder and your insensitive posts are just pouring petrol onto a subject, that for delivery posties, is an emotive subject.

Re: I Don't Support Postal Strike - Postman
So even though you readily admit there's been a reduction in mail, you still persist in linking the debate to "heavier bags" etc? I don't see any connection with me debating (seemingly endlessly) the point of reducing mail volumes, and the reply of "yeahbut my bag's heavier".I don't argue that there has been a drop in volumes that was always going to happen with PIP. But it is a fact that I do question RMs figures about the overall drop. I would estimate if I had to probably no more than 5% drop in volume

I never have made any comment (contrary to what someone's said above) on the amount DO posties deliver; that link has been used (also endlessly) in reverse though, ie, "mail volumes can't be down 'cos I deliver just as much" which is a nonsense.
And why "empathise" (other than a line from another off-the-wall post)? "Frankly we don't care" doesn't sound very empathetic or even very sensible. All RM staff are having a much harder time these days, and sadly that's not limited to DO people.
Why should it piss you off? You've admitted it's true. Why should what I say piss you off, though? It's a forum, and you're here because you want to be, presumably? What would be the point if we all posted similar posts? Now perhaps you can understand why we get so pissed off when people say volumes are down - ok they may (be?)
There's quite enough sycophancy here already, without needing any more.

I give up with you - you cannot accept any point of view except your own and for 2 years I have tried. Frankly trying to debate with someone who thinks he is right all the time and is not willing to accept anyone else's opinions or view on the matter - as shown by the quoted reply - is an exercise in futility.Tman wrote:So even though you readily admit there's been a reduction in mail, you still persist in linking the debate to "heavier bags" etc? My bag weight has everything to do with the argument of mail volumes - OK if we accept volumes are down but my bag is heavier it means that the decline has had no impact on my job except for me delivering heavier items over longer delivery spans and to more customer - that means I cannot do more yet RM keep coming back for me - Its quite simple if you were able to accept others positions on a debate and learn from them, one of the purposes of debating after all, you would see that instead of calling the argument nonsense. With the word nonsense, this is what pisses me off, not what you say but how you say it.

Re: I Don't Support Postal Strike - Postman
i think both royal mail and the cwu are confusing matters here, mail volumes are not down ,but the revenue is.twenty years ago i was a walkman and i thought myself unlucky to have two bags, and now i am told the same walk to be on average 4-5,when i started in stockports mailcentre we 3 asms and cleared, now we have 4 lsms and 2 mtts and sometimes fail, the asms used to do on a good night about 30-40,000 items, the lsms are now doing over 100,000 items each.this by the way at stockport mailcentre which closes on the 19th of september.

Re: I Don't Support Postal Strike - Postman
It's quite simple really even a person with a low IQ could work it out, for 'eg' the walks are now in some cases twice as long as they used to be,equals lots more houses, delivery points, equals lots more work & weight to take out. Some of the walks in my DO have 700-800 del points on them compared to earlier years,so as I said simple maths,& don't forget whatever the workload is in the MC'S your shift is over the work is left, oh but in DO's whatever the workload there it all has to go no matter what, even if you can no longer get it in the frames,& then you get hassle if you can't complete every bloody day,& yes if I could get another job I would be gone,oh & don't forget the small matter of bringing 5 x households per week in, which RM are pushing for now, which also weigh a bloody ton but you still think our bags are not so heavy, you my friend defo live in cloud cuckoo land.

Re: I Don't Support Postal Strike - Postman
Rather than play the old "why can't you accept anyone else's point of view?" card again, why can't you accept that the original assertion re mail volumes, isn't true?I give up with you - you cannot accept any point of view except your own and for 2 years I have tried. Frankly trying to debate with someone who thinks he is right all the time and is not willing to accept anyone else's opinions or view on the matter - as shown by the quoted reply - is an exercise in futility.
Well, actually you do, but then you (and others) just have to needlessly change the argument by bringing in bag weights as if that somehow changes or rebuts the original point.
Jeez, and you say I can't accept anyone else's point of view? It's not about you and how much you carry, the original point (made many times by many different posters) was denying RM's claim (that volumes have dropped) as some sort of company propaganda.
How many times can I say the point isn't, and never was about how much you carry?
No it's not, it's because you want to keep making the point that you work as hard or harder than ever you did, and you don't want someone disagreeing with that view, even though I wasn't anyway. With the word nonsense, this is what pisses me off, not what you say but how you say it.
