Watched the TV the other night about the use of CCTV images in relation to privacy laws.
The postie was captured on a door bell camera and someone decided to make the image and what he said public.
The postie didn't break the law.
Just wondering what HIS rights are about all of this and why aren't the CWU taking this up?

There cannot be any reasonable expectation of privacy in a public place (and the yard where it happened may be considered such if it is viewable from the public road). There is also the possibility that the specific yard be under the control of the fallen woman, who may give her neighbour permission to show the clip.

That said, there is the "right to be forgotten" (so long as we're subject to GDPR) whereby the postie could insist their face is blurred and possibly their voice muted and subtitled. Anything further is subject to the whims of the legal system and could go either way.

A postman, or anyone, in a public place has no automatic right to privacy, so we can be filmed going about our jobs in public places.

People who have CCTV installed must have signs displayed to inform anyone entering the property of this. Anyone who is filmed by a CCTV has the right, potentially, to ask for a DATA request and the information should be released to them under the various guidelines and statutes. They can also ask not to be filmed by the CCTV and if this practicable the owner must accede to the request (in the vast majority of cases it isn't practicable)
