Its tough out there!
Not true, my area delivery rep only has 3 days release each week to cover 21 offices, the furthest being over 50 miles away from his office. And RM can refuse reps time to attend the briefing, release time is for IR, an industrial action meeting isnt IR.The Inspector wrote:Any Rep - from Area upwards - is on full-time release! They will go to the briefing! They can stop unit reps attending - but they can't stop Area reps contacting unit reps. If you don't like the way that you are represented - try complaining to your Branch Officers. If that bears no fruit - telephone CWU HQ & complain!

Not sure I understand that "Industrial Action" is not "Industrial Relations". Surely IA is the final action available in IR, but I do wish to be corrected or the situation explained as I am now confused.truthteller wrote:Not true, my area delivery rep only has 3 days release each week to cover 21 offices, the furthest being over 50 miles away from his office. Re: FULL UPDATE FROM CWU HQ
OK why not start liasing with the TUC now, join in with Civil servants, including Prison Officers, Health workers etc. I think I'm suggesting a General strike but then, maybe that is what it will take? What do you all think?lovejoy wrote:Letter to Branches
No. 801/07 Ref: 60000 Date: 11th September 2007
TO: ALL BRANCHES WITH POSTAL MEMBERS
Dear Colleague
ROYAL MAIL DISPUTE
Following a full report from the negotiating team the Postal Executive unanimously rejected Royal Mail’s latest offer.
Whilst some progress has been made on pay there remain significant differences in a number of key areas.
Attached to this LTB is a summary of the main issues.
In light of Royal Mail’s decision to end the period of calm the Postal Executive has made the following decisions.
• A National Briefing of Branches and Field Officials will take place on Thursday 13th September at the South Wimbledon Club, 8 Russell Road, Wimbledon, the Briefing will start at 11am.
• We have agreed to respond positively to Royal Mail’s offer of further negotiations.
• We have agreed in principle to reactivate national strike action in September. This is in response to Royal Mail’s decision to push ahead with imposed change.
Further details covering the aforementioned will be sent out in a letter to members’ home addresses in due course. A comprehensive Reps Brief to be used in face to face meetings with the membership is also being prepared.
In the meantime, please ensure the content of this LTB is circulated to all workplaces.
Yours sincerely

A SUMMARY OF THE KEY ISSUES IN ROYAL MAIL’S PROPOSAL
PAY – Various options that produce 6.7% over 2 years with additional lump sums. This includes new money in the first year (1% is funded through ESOS).
FLEXIBILITY – a range of proposals which amount to total flexibility with postal workers not knowing what job they would be doing from day to day - with different attendances as requested by the local manager.
PENSIONS – Completely unacceptable proposals that virtually mirror the Royal Mail pension document revealed in the national press.
NETWORK 07/LATER STARTS – There has been an exchange of proposals to move these issues forward. The Union are awaiting a response from Royal Mail on whether our counter proposals are acceptable.
OTHER ISSUES – No final agreement on a range of other issues including job security, automation, door to door, MTSF, productivity and pay simplification.

Re: Its tough out there!
I am suprised at yr Area Reps release time - however I don't believe he can be prevented from attending. I shall apologise - if wrong! In our branch - area delivery defo gets full-time release - I have just 'covered' - for a fortnight!truthteller wrote:Not true, my area delivery rep only has 3 days release each week to cover 21 offices, the furthest being over 50 miles away from his office. Pay
A number of options that amount to 6.7% on basic pay over two years with additional lump sums. This includes more money in the first year.
Flexibility
A range of proposals which amount to total flexibility where postal workers will not know what job they are performing from day to day.
Pensions
The company has virtually re-tabled the previous rejected proposal as revealed by the Daily Mirror, including a reduction in benefits, increased employee contributions and later retirement age.
No final agreement on a number of areas including job security, personnel procedures, automation, productivity and network changes.
That looks a bit different to what is posted above.
These are the rejected issues?
Well can anyone tell me what the AGREED issues are?
RM have totally bullshitted the CWU - they have kept them dangling whilst they set in motion, behind the scenes, the moves to execute the proposed changes - and still the executive are pussyfooting around.
How come the meeting is only on Thursday @ 11. Presumably the outcome will be reported on Friday and lo and behold HQ shuts down for the weekend and the new starts begin on Monday.
IT IS TIME. We should no longer be prepared to put up with second best - if they don't have the bottle for a fight then lets have em out and recruit from outside - people who are bright enough and intelligent enough to actually see whats coming. For fecks sake most people on this forum could see a shafting on its way - but NOT the 100k officers of this Union.
Hand me the rope and lead me to a tree - oh and stop my union dues.
100k? Is that backed up by the CWU accounts?

-Some of that stuff was hinted at weeks back on Hellmail i.e . " I really feel for the long-service ones as their jobs will be changed out of recognition " -RM don't like work to rules or rolling strikes they've Autumn Pressure & Xmas coming up -they'd rather play the Victorian Millowner . Look at that PMC Thread" we're all on the AL/AC Train praising thier timing." It's making the CWU look gormless .dvbuk55 wrote:SUMMARY OF REJECTED PROPOSAL

Take a look at the accounts - I think it was 72k salary & 28+k paid into HIS pension - then of course there will be the expenses which aren't shown.Big Daz wrote:dvbuk55 wrote:SUMMARY OF REJECTED PROPOSAL

I wonder for example how much a mile he gets paid when he uses his private car for work - bet it's more than a postman. Wonder how much interest is paid on any loans bet it's less than your interest rate on anything.
And we wonder why they don't want to rock the boat -

On the run up to Christmas its a pity we could not streamline the cards and packets as this would help keep them on side.

strike now!
The union should be talking today and getting ready to announce a full national strike.
Five weeks has been long enough for "negotiations" to take place. Royal Mail only listen to the union when the work force is out on the streets!
:lfo I would love to meet this tit in the street!
