I'll say it again cwu have handled this dispute very badly[/b], communication with the membership has been very poor and this suspension of IA smells very fishy, just because Leighton & Crozier have agreed to speak to Dave & Billy, I can't see the union winning any reasonable concessions and when they don't, the membership will lose what little faith they have in the union, there will be a mass exodus from the union and RM will then have a clear route to impose whatevever pay deal including strings they wish. I hope very much to be proven wrong, but surely cwu havem just bottled it![/url]

My thoughts nearly 2 months ago,today...i feel for everyone that has put too much faith in the union.
however this situation could not carry on,and it's right and sensible that everyone takes a step back,as a non-union
member i haven't attended any picket lines, but more importantly i haven't crossed any.
People should be proud, they have stood together and bought the union a seat at the negotiating table, which quite
simply several months ago they didn't have.
Remember royal mail were looking to challenge the very essence of the union,it's solidarity,it's members, they
were imposing change without consultation.
It's not about royal mail winning,or the cwu winning,it's about understanding, and beating the competition!
i hope ultimately it's us,it's people who are the real winners.
good luck everyone!!

I agree. We shouldn`t panic. We have done things the right way and they are back at the table, this time one hopes to negotiate instead of reiterate.krooserman1802 wrote:I think the way this last couple of weeks have gone and the amount of chaos we have caused, it show, I hope, that we have a union that is forward thinking in the way we do things. The rolling strikes were ingenious and I would hope that after such a campaign we dont fall back to the old ways of doing things. I hope the PEC are clear of what needs to be done to ensure members confidence in them. I think we may be panicking a bit, and lets just see what happens. As my good ol managers would say.."lets put it all in the blender and see what mix comes out"...lol
The way I see this, we can all be proud we stuck together this far.
Those that are struggling most financially will hopefully now have a chance to get something back in overtime in the coming weeks. I know that sounds like it defeats the object but so be it. If they can`t settle this dispute by september 4th then we do it all again only it`ll be busier time of year and hit them harder which is to our advantage.
My only concern was that the ballot was still valid by that date which seems to be the case I read on here.
We wouldn`t want a second ballot as that may sway some of the doubters to vote no to further action.
Interesting also to see that RM will (??) publish profit figures next week surely that also will strengthen the unions hand.

Spot on Trojantrojan wrote:Does everyone on here really feel that the union are now about to shaft us, after we have all taken part in what has been a very succesfull period of IA. we should all be proud of ourselfs as CWU HQ is, the way we have stood together north, south, east and west we have proved unity is strengh and that the two jokers can not grind us or our union down.
Lets give Dave and Billy a chance not slate them at the very 1st oppertunity giving management what they want by trying to divide us.
If we all stick together do our jobs properly then we will prove to RM that neither us or this union will bow down to bully boy tactics.
KEEP THE FAITH!!!

DEFINITION OF A POSTMAN in current times ........
To get up at ungodly hours,
To deliver the unwanted to the ungreatful,
and when we do deliver the wanted it's to the undeserving,
and most days, it's at all hours in all weathers for below inflation pay.

:d'oh!I cant believe what i'm reading on here as i've said before KEEP THE FAITH, UNITY IS STRENGTH managers must be looking at this and rubbing their hands together, they have always wanted to crush us and our union ,now your doing it for them, by slating the PEC stick together do our jobs properly and to our 318's people in my office have just started doing this and now realising what mugs they were for starting early, rushing around and driving like rally drivers.
