Well as distasteful as it would be, we would have to go back to work and finally realise that the bullying and harrassment, the excessive workloads, the intransigent management has not been recognised by our union as a problem and so we would have to order loads of vaseline again

They recognise it mate and it is central to any resolution...
well said dvbuk dont forget they imposed IA. to go forward, we must first go back, reinstate former duties en-masse. then negotiate from there. that would mean the weak offices who accepted the changes without IA, would be stuck with them. the rest of us will sit down and do what they should have done months ago .and TALK
C'mon Billy and Dave, don't be conned by these hatchet men, they will tell you what you want to hear for now and then once the christmas pressure is over they will walk away from the negotiating table and go ahead with the changes without any agreements. Everyone in the G.M.C. fears the worst and if the strikes are called off it will play right into their hands, R.M. objective is to smash the C.W.U. so :mfo Mandy can get the privitization through without and fight from the C.W.U. I plead with the P.E.C. to reject what is tabled to them until it is an agreement that addresses all the issues and ask them to remember who put them in their positions.

Our Area accepted the changes as advised by the union and even the national union when asked for advice, the problem is that by accepting, "trials" it was assumed that was it and was followed by EA on various aspects. Even now we have 30 vacant duties filled by part timers in the main - the union here is very weak and the Branch is weak.
We may well argue that the Union at the top needs shaking up but in truth the shop floor level of the union needs a good kick up the arse for letting these things escalate as they have done. The 2007 agreement relied heavily on local agreement which in turn relied on reps being both intelligent enough, interested enough and strong enough to make local deals and that turned out to be a monumental mistake.
I thought we had a second ballot last time to vote on whether or not to accept the Pay & Mod agreement 2007?? So shouldn't we get an vote on this agreement too? If we don't like it we can send it back to them with a big NO and TRY AGAIN stamped on it?

We would vote on an agreement but this wouldn't be an agreement it would be a "cooling down" period where we clear the backlog, work our nuts off through Christmas whilst Royal Mail drags its feet on negotiating AS THEY HAVE DONE for the previous 6 months. Lets just keep going - they will blink first because they have more to lose than we have.
Personally I would demand the removal of Crozier and Mandelson and have an independent body look at the structure of RM Management and an inquiry into how it is run with an agreement that whatever the findings GOOD or BAD would be binding on both parties for three years and that inquiry would look at the pricing structure and any increases or new pricing would have to be accepted by Government and Postcomm.
By Indepedent I don't mean the TUC, who I believe are not acting in our best interests at all.
The announcement tomorrow is building up to be a seminal moment in this dispute, we are united in the strike action continuing until necessary, we have the upper hand at the moment, let's not give that up, WE MUST STAND STRONG ON THIS ONE, PLEASE DO NOT ABANDON THE STRIKE ACTION UNTIL THIS IS RESOLVED IN OUR FAVOUR, any other decision I'm afraid will be a sell out to every member who has sacrificed pay for principles, CWU, DO NOT LET US DOWN!

Especially the 46,000 members who, in 2007, got a ballot paper on whether to accept / reject the P&M agreement AND DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO VOTE
How can they go on strike, lose loads of money, and NOT have an opinion on whether it's a good deal or a crap deal ?
