That's what conference is for - so the members via their reps can tell the Union what they want.
Our rep has bogged off to this as usual, and he's off now for two weeks, he hasn't spoken to a soul in our office about him going to conference and neither has the Area Rep who actually paid us a visit a fortnight ago (only because somebody was up for the chop  ) and probably won't be seen again until near Christmas. :cuppa
There is very little asking or bothering what the members actually want to put to conference.
If the members in your office want to know what what happened at conference ask the rep for a report when he comes back from a/l. if you don't get one go to the Area Rep. If you still don't get one go to the Brach. Its not that hard to do.
We heard next to nothing in our office as we have had no rep, thats why I have stepped up to the position to try and get a little info. Alot of its baffling as it makes no sense, a shorter working week?! please somebody explain...I have yet to go to a meeting or speak to my area rep, will be next week, then hopefully all will become clear.

Regarding further implementation of the SWW if it cannot be accommodated within duty times then the lost hours will be added in the form of additional early IPS etc.
A lot if not most posties still do the job using the 'job & finish' mentality. Up until now we could get away with this but with the advent of AHDC & PDA actuals on the horizon we have to wean ourselves off this method. At the very least we all have to start taking our full break times. Ideally we should all stop coming in way before our duty times even start. In our DO some posties
routinely come in and start working up to 45 minutes before duty start time. In an ideal world we should be able to continue doing this but RM do not reward efficiency . RM will not and do not see that the job is still being done and they are still receiving the hours of work they are paying for. Given, as we all know, that all walks are not the same length the new data will prove that some walks are being completed in less than full duty time. The data cannot & will not be targeted to individual posties and walks might not be adjusted as a result. Instead it is likely there will be blanket changes across all duties so walks that cannot be completed within duty time will be made even longer because some posties are finishing earlier.
In short we not so much need to slow down or hang around but just do the job as RM want it done as much as possible. We are not going to be able to follow every single rule but we do need to observe more of them than we are currently.
