Point is ? ... I chose to work in delivery when we had a choice. A choice whether to deliver them or pass households on to someone that wants to do them. When we got paid for delivering them . I understand the need for change and performance standards but they still don't go out often in our office they are just piled up.
I just don't see why when I'm trudging round with seven lots of leaflets in all weathers and throwing them into my frame struggling everyday , why someone who don't even touch an item gets anything .
In my opinion it's unfair. That's all. And I am entitled to it.

of course you have an opinion but not everyone has to agree with it. so why don't we just stop paying all those lazy f***s in mc,s who sit around all day twiddling their thumbs
. do you actually know where the mail you have to deliver comes from after the customer has sent it. it really just doesn't arrive in your d.o by magic

Focussing on D2Ds when there are far, far more important matters being debated, just strikes me as a bit short-sighted. Fact is, the payments never equate to work done anyway - in our office, some people regularly get 6 a week, whereas others get 1, so it's never technically 'fair' - considering RM now class it as regular mail, we should all be grateful that we still get paid extra anyway.

Getting RM to admit there is bullying going on is akin to ordering a 'Code Red' in the film A Few Good Men.slt2653 wrote:Apparently the union brought it up in the meetings but Royal Mail don't believe it's a widespread issue. In the mediators report it mentions:holly123 wrote:Totally agree, have the union mentioned anything about the bullying and harassment on the floor day to day ,grevances being ignroed all the time , the final mile is the hardest job in royal mail by farlee trigger wrote:It's got be a big no on the finish times. Deliveries already to the max. US on the front line seriously need some help. Come on cwu take a good look at us posties we are being pushed to the limit and now there's talk of finishing even later? We need to all vote no even if there is just one mention of later finish times .
The discussions on this issue revealed a considerable difference of opinion
concerning the state of employee relations and morale at delivery offices. The
Union’s view was that morale was low, OPGs recruited on part time contracts
were being required to work significant additional hours whether they wished to
or not, a bullying culture developed as managers struggle to meet performance
targets and passed this pressure on to employees and that managers were
increasingly making deliveries themselves. The Employer did not accept that
these were wide spread issues and pointed out that this was not the situation
revealed by the results of the latest Employee Opinion Survey undertaken by
IPSOS/MORI in February / March 2017.
You'd think the ballot result would give them some inkling!
i.e everyone knows it goes on, their view is it has to go on for the sake of delivery but no-one will ever admit it goes on.
If ever there was an authenticated agreement/suggestion/advice that this was a used tactic from a within the top layers of RM, it would crumble pretty quick.

It's hard to believe that more than 7 years on people still don't understand the supplement thing.
Those that work in delivery get a delivery supplement.
Those that work in processing get a processing supplement.
Nobody gets a penny for D2D.
The only connection to D2D is that when the Delivery Supplement came in a calculation was made involving past D2D payments and shift allowances that was used to come up with the base line figure. It was even a different calculation that was used in processing. It's such a tenuous connection you would think it would have broken by now.

We are pushing them like mad on the issue, they are petrified of fixed cost in our unit what with efficiency playing a big part. In our unit they are generally used when we have a slippage of work plan on the day shift, this tends to roll from days to into night shift and that’s when they will bring them in along with doubler overtime, we have put up a proposal to them based on us raising heads on our shift permanently to full time hours based on agency use but we are in no way outnumbered by them and it’s not every day, again it’s more of a reaction to certain days of the week. We do have a problem in our unit in that we are struggling now to get more full time heads on night shift from our existing part time work force, almost everyone that wants full time in the unit is full time, we are past 80% full time in there and that was before people were made up for the pressure. Believe me though we are trying as hard as we can to get more but the worry from RM of more fixed cost and a low demand from our current part timers to go to full time is holding this up. I think a revision would be beneficial but that would be for the New year and there’s a few would be stand offish on that during a lower traffic period.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Then MCs need to put pressure on Royal Mail because we really are nearing a breaking point. Perhaps Area Delivery reps need to give Processing reps an insight and a helping hand as I thought casuals were only meant to be a temporary resource, not a permanent one.
Are the local processing reps pushing Royal Mail on the issue?

A fair few staff from DO's would willingly go to mail centres if they want full time staff but location would be the bug bear!monkey76 wrote:We are pushing them like mad on the issue, they are petrified of fixed cost in our unit what with efficiency playing a big part. While I agree with you entirely, you can understand some old-timers still being aggrieved seeing as you could regularly make an easy extra £50 a week back with the old system. It's just a generation thing that will eventually disappear as more and more veterans are offed or relegated to the knacker's yard.fishtank wrote:It's hard to believe that more than 7 years on people still don't understand the supplement thing.

Getting them to agree to fixed cost is the challenge, nobody would move from a permanent DO turn to a temp mailcentre nightshift I would imagine? We also don’t have open resourcing within our branch which proves even more difficult for people to move, the flight to sprinters changes have opened up some opportunities for people from DO’s to move to our collections but generally they only get in the mailcentre on medical grounds.k979aaa wrote:A fair few staff from DO's would willingly go to mail centres if they want full time staff but location would be the bug bear!monkey76 wrote:We are pushing them like mad on the issue, they are petrified of fixed cost in our unit what with efficiency playing a big part.
