Never had any of this using you own car nonsense for delivery.

All the rurals and firms deliveries have a van.

All the bike delevries are within 10 to 15 mins cycling distance from the delivery office.

Most people who do our market square/high st delivery use it, to save constantly going backwards and forwards to and from the office.

As you can see, I've learnt a couple of things already!

Also in conversation with the manager today, the late starts. I pointed out that how is it going to work with a later start but still a 2pm cut off. He's not sure....

I finally got round to reading the log book for my van. It tells me all the checks I must complete before setting off on my
journey. One of the things it says I must do is to check that the horn works. I never heard anyone test their horn in our yard
yet... I'll start doing it I think. H&S is important

We are all going to do our job properly on monday on my section.
However we have a person who i call a untouchable

He went in on every strike day and wearing a smirk.
He is not in the union but had the nerve to sit with us at a union meeting on wednesday.
The only problem is, he will come in at 4.20, sort out the met bundles, throw his walk out, and then probably 10 to 5am start throwing out our section's mail.
When it does come to time to do the ips, he hogs the mail, the rest of us didn t get a look in, and he goes and throws his walk out while the rest of us are stood round as he as done all the ips.
has any one got any ideas to help the situation

How big is the section and what size the office? Put it this way, I'm one out of an office of about 30 and I'm causing a little disruption on my own. My guess is that with a group of you doing it, problems will arise very quicky. Good luck!!
The way I used to work (over-weight bags, etc) only got me an extra hour off a day anyway. The extra hours work is a small price to pay as I must admit to feeling not half as Knackered after carrying the lighter weights.
Anyone here who is not doing this should think about it. I had a problem with my shoulder about a year ago and I don't want a repeat of it, 'know.

Seems to be a mixed reaction in our office - while some will start Monday doing their job properly for the first time.
Others have already made excuses as to why they should carry on using their cars (yes, the docket bashers!).

In my D.O the rural dels will have the most impact.

Well i won't starting at 6 or 6.15 don't even know yet
means i can no longer get on the bus in the morning
therefore getting to work on my bike.I will then have to return to the office
(for my bike )to return home.
however we finish out on delivery which was fine as my last drop was near to home
but as i will be going back to the office, i will want to finish as close to the office as posible.
This will mean some firms getting their mail at 2.15-2.30pm if at all.
so FU*K EM AND LET THEM PICK THE BONES OUT OF THAT...

Our section has 3 driving duties, and 6 walks.
Altogether there are about 100 walks.
Nearly the whole office are going to start at 5am
The phgs are saying it is unofficial action.
What do i say monday, when i have 8 boxes of mail and its 8am?
It will take nearly 2 hrs to throw that out,
thats 9am, prep up take over a hour, have my 20 min break, so it will be about 10.40 when i start, and it will take me 3 and a half hours to 4 depending on customers, and cups of tea!!!
how to i go about telling my line manager i just want to work to time?
