I love the way the article moans about the taxpayers paying for these jobs when actually we normally make a profit for the government.

Re: Royal Mail pay 287 posties..who have no job
"CRISIS-hit ROYAL MAIL is paying a fortune to keep hundreds of staff on its books despite having no formal jobs for them.
Damning documents show the postal operator is coughing up salaries for at least 287 staff it admits are "surplus".
Many are posties or sorting staff left without a "templated role" after restructuring by bosses.
But rather than lay them off and risk a strike by trade unions, the Royal Mail is keeping them on to "fill in" until something comes up - or they decide to leave.
Some have been in the "surplus pool" for nearly SIX YEARS. It is believed they have been kept on their existing salaries. "
Well I've looked through the documents obtained by the tax payers alliance under the foi act and guess how many delivery posties do you think are mentioned.Come on have a guess don't be shy , after all according to the Sun, in their own words many are posties.
Go on have a guess , assuming that I can skim read still
Right if you were to say 287 delivery posties .... you would be ..... wrong
If you were to say a number between zero and two you would be right once every three attempts .That's right the no of opg s in the document was one .

Re: Royal Mail pay 287 posties..who have no job
The next question you need to ask yourself is what is going on here , based on the 287 postie claim there appears to be misinformation going on, but to what purpose ?
Let's assume that i am an employee or researcher for the Tax Payer's Alliance and I am sitting at my desk when I am hit by a sudden urge to make a Freedom of Information request
I decide to make a request about the Royal Mail despite the fact there are huge numbers of quangos and ngos that are frittering the taxpayers hard-earned at a rate of knots.
One would assume that I would request information about Moya's remuneration packet or perhaps the huge sums being trousered under the dsa scam
Of course you would be wrong because with no apparent warning I make a request demanding to know how many surplus staff were on RM's books over the past 7 years or so
Am I the only person that finds that a little far-fetched ?
The next thing I do is without knowing how much a postie is paid , I take the median gross pay for a public sector worker from a couple of years ago , round about 23k pa and calculate the swindle of the tax- payer from this .In the press the public are misled twice - once with the postie lie and then with our wages again inflated.
If I wasn't cynical I would say a diligent researcher had seen the mtsf agreements mentioned during parliamentary debate
over the Postal Bill and decided to investigate
My own view is that the info was drip-fed to the t.p.a .Who by and to what purpose ? Well a gullible public has now swallowed another whopper .Who could gain... I have no idea :vcfo :ncfo

Nicely done Wes.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

After a little more research I have discovered that The Taxpayers' Alliance received the info via a tip-off from " a supporter ".
