There is no end to the duplicity of this management. How many times have they said Have your Say, We are Listening, There will be full consultation, Lets get on and do the Job, You are our most valuable asset and then pleased themselves what they did and when they did it.
This trouble has been brewing for a long time and could go on for a while yet, but I think there is a gathering of public awareness as to who is the bad guy in this dispute.

EXPOSED
Following the exposal of Royal Mails outrageous plans for all of our pensions we can confirm that these plans are not just paper talk but REAL proposals that have been put to the CWU.
A national meeting was held today and the full report on all issues raised is as follows
NEW DATES
Dave Ward DGS(P) announced that the CWU were entering a new phase in this dispute. As previously stated the action that has been named is aimed at causing maximum disruption to Royal Mail and minimum to our pockets. It is quite clear that the action we are about to embark on will hit Royal Mail hard and the aim is to force then back into negotiations.
PENSIONS
The CWU can confirm that the ‘leaked’ document published in the Mirror newspaper is in fact a true document. Royal Mail has this document ready to go out to us all but are holding it back in fear of the backlash from staff. One point worth noting is that the changes also affect all junior and middle management!
CAMPAIGN
The CWU has stepped up its national campaign. The general secretary has met with the trade and industry secretary and put the CWUs case fully to him. We are now awaiting feedback from the Government but it is clear that the secretary of state was not aware of the full contents of the ‘business plan’
The campaign focus will now start to shift towards Allan Leighton and Adam Crozier. The CWU find it unacceptable that the chairman of our industry is allowed to get away with only working one day per week. It is also unacceptable that the financial results for this year have not been announced. These points are to be exposed in the media and to the public.
The CWU website www.cwu.org is now receiving over 1.3million visits each day! The union are set for a slot on GMTV this week and an advert is being placed in most national papers THIS THURSDAY.
TALKS
The burning question amongst the membership is have there been any talks. The answer to that is that Royal Mail has yet to commit to further negotiations. We hope that with the pressure of the media and the looming rolling strikes this will change rapidly. As always we will keep you fully updated on any developments

According to The Mirror article,johno47 wrote:Once again the working man is being walked over by employers, you never see bosses losing their pensions....
The Royal Mail pension scheme is one of the UK's biggest with more than 450,000 members. Existing pensioners and senior management would be unaffected.
So, long after they've wrecked our future pensions and long since moved on to other highly-paid jobs, Leighton and Crozier can sleep soundly, knowing their over-generous pensions are safely protected

It's called " In support of the posties"

jafferpants.....you seem to have your head screwed on,i have always been lead to believe that one can only pay in to a pension for 40 years. So having started on the Royal Mail at 18 and being 47 now,my 40 years would be up when i am 58,it was my intention to retire then, are they saying i cant draw my pension out until i am 65(if there's anything left).I have already had a kick in the balls from equity life, which i had running alongside my post office pension as i could'nt buy AVC's.jafferpants wrote:FEDUP POSTIE WHAT EVER YOU DO DON'T TOUCH THE PENSION. PRIVATE PRNSION'S ARE BASED ON THE PERFORMANCE OF THE STOCK MARKET YOU MAY CONTRIBUTE FOR YEAR'S AND GET SWEET FA BACK. UNLIKE OUR SCHEME WHICH IS FINAL SALARY BASED AND INDEX LINKED (INFLATION PROOF). WHICH IS THE VERY REASON COMPANYS WANT SHOT OF THEM. IN A NUTSHELL A PRIVATE PENSION IS YOUR RESPONSABILITY AND A FINAL SALARY PENSION IS THE COMPANY'S. EXCUSE ME WHILE I LAY DOWN WITH A COLD TOWEL ON MY HEAD.

Royal Mail are denying it on H******* , there's a copy of Millidge's letter to Ray Ellis , they will be sending it to " our people " - Goes under CWU Scaremonger Tactics , there's another article about " unsubstantiated reports" bit hypocritical as usual ?!. It'll only be on the backburner like the new attendance procedure , team working etc , it'll come back.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Actually Royal Mail are not extacly denying the story to quote
andThe document says: "These changes would gradually reduce Royal Mail's overall pension costs and therefore reduce the future risk to our business, jobs and existing pensions."
It stresses that no decisions have been made and the proposals are to form a basis for consultation. But it also says keeping the existing scheme is not an option
so they have neither confirmed nor denied it, which to my way of thinking this is exactly what they are going to do.Royal Mail, which has recently lost a string of contracts, said: "There is no formal proposal yet in play."

DIHEARTENED- YES BY LAW 40 YEARS IS THE MOST YOU CAN BUILD UP IN THE SCHEME. YOUR QUESTION ABOUT NOT GETTING IT TILL 65 IS WHERE RM WOULD BE ON VERY DODGY GROUND. YOU SEE THE STATEMENT YOU GET ONCE A YEAR IS A BENEFITS STATEMENT . PART OF THE BENEFIT IS A STIPULATED RETIREMENT AGE OF 60. TO CHANGE THAT WOULD BE VERY DIFFICULT IN LAW AS BENEFITS ALREADY AQUIRED CAN NOT BE TAKEN AWAY I THINK SOLICITORS WOULD HAVE A FIELD DAY WITH IT. BUT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU MOVE IT!!!. I KNOW A LOT ABOUT THE ROYAL MAIL SCHEME IN PARTICULAR AND HAVE ACCESS TO INFO THAT OTHER POSTIES DONT HAVE BUT FOR REASONS STATED PREVIOUSLY I CAN'T SAY HOW THAT IS. IN THE MEAN TIME JUST HOLD FIRE TO SEE WHAT DEVELOPES

Jafferpants,
Many thanks for your reply,i dont have any intention of moving my pension. Its a worrying situation and as you say Royal Mail could be on dodgy ground,i guess many members of the scheme in their late 40's early 50's are watch this thread with great interest.

Got a copy of the document in question, in my hand as I speak! Curtesy of my union rep. It arrived this morning only copy I received, very strange as a 2nd copy appeared outside dums office! No wonder RM are denying it's existance, saying it's not a formal proposal yet. So if it is'nt formal , then why print 170,000 copies with July 07 under the main heading??? Dodgy as F**k if you ask me, especially as no authors name appears in this rag!

That just about sums it up. Yes they want everyone to work longer before drawing their pension, and it wont be worth the same anyway.disheartened wrote:jafferpants.....you seem to have your head screwed on,i have always been lead to believe that one can only pay in to a pension for 40 years.
