Re: We are wrecking the finest postal system in the world
D2D's are our friend, like it or not, they bring in big spondoolies for all concerned,RM and the blue shirts.
What we need now is a deal that is good for everyone.
Is this D2D in an envelope a rumour or something more factual, wll if it's true then all that putting leafleats in each other would be a thing of the past, this as you know is vey time consuming.
Delivering the s**t,ok it's a pain, but with new deals should come new revisions which it will warrant because of the extra weight ect.
We've all done bulk mailing before sometimes you may get lucky and get a week, the norm down my way is 2 days, maybe 3 if we're lucky, the D2D stuff will have to be done in a week, which is more than enough time,i mean look how many sky mags we have to do in such a short space of time.
My 'personal' thoughts are, lift the limit to whatever they want, only if it's in a pre prepped envelope though, and give us a good wack for it.
RM make money, big money, which is good for future pay deals,we make extra money, and jobs are more secure.
TNT and the like are nicking our D2D's because we can only do 3 at a time,if we can take that off them and others, that's a big chunk out of their profits.
The other way if they're not pre prepped, let them give us what they want, what do you think would happen if we had to prep 5/6/7... of them!!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: We are wrecking the finest postal system in the world
The idea of putting them all in a envelope is factual as opposed to rumour but has not been adopted as offical policy by either RM or CWU.
There are lots of ideas as opposed to rumours floating around and CWU top brass want to hear our ideas and what we think to the ideas already out and about.
When I get a magazine lots of leaflets fall out thats work that could have been handled by RML, Amazon items tend to have leaflets stashed in the box with the item you ordered.
TNT acting as a RM agent/broker and competior at the same time gets the best of both worlds a hand in each pie. Very clever dont you think?
TNT when delivering leaflets themselves dont cover every property in the UK like RM do.
Some companies use TNT to manage their leaflets prior to being dropped off at the WBC this is not taking work away from RM as its not a service we offer in the first place. If we offered a much more comprehensive service for D to D along the lines of TNT we could poach work away from them just like they poach from us for addressed mail.
Rm being more innovative is something CWU and Hooper agree on. Innovation can bring in money and work and therefore job seccurity and decent terms and conditions.
Perhaps RM should use WTLL sessions to ask OPG'S on how the company can be more innovative.

it has long been said in our office that you should do one household per day, that's finr, but it makes mockery of the
assumption that most days you would only do say 80% of your walk--if we are to do one each day they will need to revise the walking times again.

Re: We are wrecking the finest postal system in the world
agreed,if the limit is to be raised or even removed
then it would be more practical in a pre made up unit
whether envelope or whatever
theres days when i would do more D2D if i had the time to make them up before the van
i like to hit them early in the week and tail off as the week goes than 20% a day
im all stairs so its not like main doors where i wouldnt be going up the drive.im going into the stair and up to the top floor anyway
i rtemember the last time we had a combined local/euro elections
we had D2D's coming out of our ears
cant recall exactly but it was 15+!!

One D2D everyday would simplify everything, no need for call rates, no need to work out 20%, the reserves always get their share and that way they can roll it into the wage instead of an additional payment and no need to take them home to make them up
now that seems to be a win win situation for everyone.
