Royal mails future lies in being as efficient as possible, and charging the going rate for its services. I've just spent over two hours reading this poxy report (It's my day off) and the one thing that sticks out is the fact that we are the cheapest in Europe other than Spain and Slovakia.
I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that Postcomm and the government have blocked price rises in order to run down the company to a point where they can say "it's not working ,let's sell it"

Out of curiosity has anyone got the figures as to how much stamp prices have risen over say, the last twenty years?
the mistake made with the original directive was not to ring fence it - just full steam ahead with right wing ideology - now it's how do we wriggle out of it with New Labour

Ironic that the Hooper Report was released just before MP's retire for their Christmas break - ensuring proper discussion does not take place. The report can be buried in time for the next crisis in early 2009 and the public will forget it was ever released.

For change is inevitable but change for the worse is avoidable we all who have our concerns should voice our opinions loud and clear now is not the time for royalmail and it's CEO to get in to bed with the competition as it's leadership says so!. We were all told how to fight the competition off not take it up the ass as CROZIER has done do we need surrender monkey's like him running a public service for his own gain!. :cfo

If TNT or another operator puts in £3 billion as Hooper report suggests,
What do they get for their money and what is in it for them,it seems a huge risk given the state of RM and our History of industrial action.

I WANT TO KNOW,would TNT absorb Parcel force,what is the attraction for TNT is it the mail centers if so what about competion rules with other Companies say UK MAIL.I cannot beleive any one would want the Letters delivery side .

Whilst the report mentions PCO i see no mention of Parcel Force.What would be the value of Parcel force if sold?
