Royal Mail losing 1m a day as pandemic postal boom subsides

If the did split RM into a letters business and a parcels business it'd be interesting to see how they divide the MCs and DOs between the two. Realistically all staff in the DOs of a new parcels firm would have to be drivers as chances are that every parcel would have a time slot and doing it with someone walking probably won't work. All of the non-drivers would need to be moved to the letters firm, even if that meant a move to a more distant office

So how would you split the DOs, MCs and staff between the two companies?

Most likely use the same offices, just different Uniforms. Although if they went the whole dutch method they would use waysiders for letters. In fact as they are pushing for a two-tier workforce for new starters they are probably moving in that direction already.

Would be pointless doing that, you'd just get staff "loaned" between the two companies. If they're going to split off the parcels, they're bound to want every last parcel trackable through the system and will probably want to introduce time slots for all parcels

They already "loan" people between Angard and various Royal mail businesses. So that's not intractable.

Royal Mail has already been told by the regulator that they can't have every parcel tracked as it would be uncompetitive.

Angard are basically just casuals. Angard being "loaned" to over RM companies is no different from a normal agency having people placed with different firms

of course its bullshit....just happens to be the exact same amount that gobshite Leighton said we were losing back in 2007. (same amount after 15 yrs) ....just happens to be the exact same amount P&O said they were losing before sacking all the workforce. and just happens to be the exact same amount even bigger gobshite Thompson says we are losing the day after a massive yes vote in the ballot. we had profits announced of 758M only a couple of months ago. so if it was true, why haven't the board resigned. it must be an agreed amount they make up to lie to their employees to get out of disputes etc. its a pile of shite.
