It is shocking at the length they do to keep cutting cost there is no justification for pay freeze especially the board will just keep lining their fat pocket while rest of up suffer enough is enough :mfo

There is a justification for it......when / if an IA ballot is called to try and push RM into giving some sort of pay rise, the RM Press Office can go into overdrive, with guff like pay freeze at all levels including execs, not just opgs, current economic climate, some should be glad to keep their jobs, many others are unemployed, pensions deficit, lowest Letters profits in years, blah, blah, blah............yawn

It's a justification - not a good one, but it's all RM need

The board will always find ways to line their pockets so i don't always believe rm giving their recent profits so it makes me wonder :S

There is a bigger picture , it's quite deliberate , RM want a sort of sales culture i.e. wages based on bonuses , colleague shares , people on different rates - divide and rule to get away from annual national collective bargaining and to sideline the union .

:lfo said " Give them shares , they think they have a stake in the business and you can get away with paying them less "

A Director has already been to the regulator to see if RM will get fined for strikes so they are obviously seeing how far they can push things for a fat cat culture and race to the bottom for staff .

The other game RM are playing is a way of deflecting all the fierce criticism like " lacking the expertise to run a postal operation " they've had from :mfo & Hooper and try make the union look bad , in reality it's not quite that simple but they'll hope the papers will lap it up , a lot of Senior Managers will be looking for a exit strategy and working themselves a good number with whoever might takeover .

It'll be like the 80's & 90's , former utility state company bosses turning into two bob spivs and brylcreemed gangsters with huge salaries in a private operation . It's also exactly what the unelected & undemocratic European Commission want , a return to Thatcherite neo - liberal policies , snouts in the troughs and mass privatization .

All that stuff about Senior Managers not having rises is mealy mouthed , disingenuous , weasel worded stuff to be taken with a very large pinch of salt .

It's not sufficient for the CWU to win battles , they have to win the war .

TBH a few posting not exactly about the pay freeze is not taking the thread off track :no no and if you can't have a laugh every now and then then all that's going to happen is you'll give yourself an ulcer, just learn to relax a little bit and if you don't like what certain people post then just put them on your foe list.

Come on CWU what are you doing!!!!!!!!!! probably having meetings around the country in hotels having free nosh ups on our money .It seems maybe the government aren't the only ones with their hands in the pie. I feel soory for the union reps working for nothing getting s**t from both sides and the top boys in the union hanging them out.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
