Maybe RM should have put out a D2D reminding people what the prices/sizes are.

Yes you do! Ask for Yeast and they give it to you ask for bubble wrap or wrapping paper for your Ebay and they give it, in fact ask for anything without a price tag and they give it to you and thats all the big supermarkets. But i still say use your local shop or lose it. But remember RM ARE A SERVICE not a cash cow for the goverment, we serve our communitys as well as RM.

Leaving aside most of that lot, the truth is nothing to do with politics, or creeping privatisation or anything else apart from the "over-sized" items are handled manually in most MCs, and the C5 and POPs are mech handled (sorry Belial for those tech terms) and so are consequently cheaper to process.

some customers do take the piss by not even putting stamps on the cards knowing that royal mail aint gonna chase up a stamp at xmas. in my veiw, any cards that aint stampd then you pay the Â£1 plus postage but if its couple pence then forget bout it

I know of a callers office that deals with surcharges and wont apply the charge if its a card. ie birthday or Xmas. But if it aint got a stamp on it at all, then they really oughta pay. I mean you just gotta apply some common sense - You know 'Give and Take'!!! GAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

For a start you don't have to travel now, you can pay on-line or affix stamps and send the card back for free and then have your item delivered. I have no qualms about charging for underpayment nor charging the handling fee, which I think should more closely reflect the cost (which I believe was something in the order of Â£7 a while back). No - it is WHO we are charging I have the problem with - looking at it realistically if everyone put their Christmas card in the post without a stamp, exactly what would RM be able to do about it? Charge each and every recipient -

I don't think so.

We used to sort local mail and each Christmas you could see the same handwriting on the envelopes sans stamp - because we used to deliver them for nothing the same people cottoned on that they could send as many as they liked without a stamp.

We should make it quite clear that anything without the correct postage will be incinerated.

unfortunatly(as our office found out) your area manager will be monitoring charged items sent to the DO.
if these items are not paid then questions are asked.

we got hauled over the coals for this and some BR cock ups
