[quote="disgruntledpostie1"][quote="bubbagump"]:left: I have just come across some literature in my office, from the Belfast CWU which i believe says it all about this deal. Even Royal Mail are openly touting what its means to posties in Northern Ireland. No wonder all our Branches are rejecting it.

Even Forest has the sense not to vote for this - he's NO Turkey

I can quite understand the stance of some branches, even the Government on occasion allows a free vote on certain issues and I think this could well be one of those occasions when each individual must decide, depending on their own circumstances, whether to vote aye or nay.

The leadership should have come from HQ in the first place, the membership was willing to carry on, HQ wasn't. This deal seals the fate of many offices because IMO that the managers have been told a totally different slant on what the role of the CWU is in the reformed workplace.

Looks like our leadership have backed themselves into a very tight spot and have no room to manouvre. A more sensible approach might have been to offer the agreement to ballot with no recommendation.
'This is what weve got so far- what do you think' oh ok we'll try to do better.

Ps. Lovejoy can you let me know what the RPI is going to be in 18 months! I'd like to plan my budget

You make a valid point in stating that the leadership had no need to agree to anything. A quick round robin of branches to see what the mood of the membership was would have told them it wasn't acceptable.

It isn't just the RPI it is the 1.5% also. It is by no means certain we are all going to get that rise as it is office by office once the agreed flexibility has been FULLY rolled out and in DOs it is going to be more difficult than in MCs I would have thought. So no 1.5% and therefore no £400 + £400 and to be quite honest I am not a lover of these target deals and savings deals when we have no real input in what the money is spent on, like 42" plasma screens for example.

Agreed DV to get the 1.5 % flexibiity fully rolled out and membership fully rolled over, and theres always a catch.
So no pay rise next year whatever the cost of living and our leaders think thats a good deal?
As for group targets ,well management bonuses appear on the debit side of accounts that could soak up lots of £'s
