This must have been staged when you think about it, talks take place on friday dave and billy agree with crozie to accept deal, now union have got to think up some idea how to call strike off mon tues whilst they convince us its a good deal, dave says to crozie i know what we will make out we got the figures wrong you go to court and get a high court injunction and we will go from there.(funny how it took rm to friday to get court case)P>S did anyone notice dave and billy shaking hands and laughing with crozier in the foyer When it was shown on news 24 0n friday.
Been thinking along sinilar lines myself, if somthing appears to good to be true................ :cfo
Top mgmtg and top union reps have a fairly cozy relationship. I have personally seen this. It seems in my experience to be far more militant the further down the ladder you go, and is at it's worst around the area level.
Dave Ward in his nice Italian Designer suit and probably gettign £80k plus a year. What happened to his earnings when you guys went on unofficial IA, nothing.
I am not a member of the CWU, and not in mgmt anymore, but this side of things has always disgusted me. It reminds me of the worst stories written by George Orwell. I strongly believe money and power corrupts. Look at the left-wing Brown and Straw of the 1970s, they are nothing like that anymore.
regardless as to what we vote for if the union adviase us to accept IT WILL BE
when was the last time a union recommendation was over turned >??????????/
Just back from Liverpool meeting, we are staying OUT.
We were told there is an agreement in place, and although we and the union reps havent seen it, we were asked to take a leap of faith and go back to work.
From what i`m hearing on the news we`ve lost the final salary pension! We have been shafted big time.If true this cannot be accepted it`ll cost us thousands of pounds.
If the union and RM ain't saying nowt, then where are the British Bullshitting C**nts getting their info from. Speculation if you ask me. Another question. Why was Dave Ward grinning like a cheshire cat on friday night at the conclusion of talks.

So it would seem. Actually some local reps and local managers aren't too unfriendly towards each other from what I've seen. I can't find it, but I had an article from Class War from about 2000 which gave a breakdown of pay for top CWU officers, and they weren't short of a bob or two. As I recall, they were also entitled to interest free loans for mortgages etc.
The Industrial Workers of the World. The union whose members never scab!
"The working class and the employing class have nothing in common."
However, the BBC understands that, in addition to the 6.9% pay rise over 18 months plus a lump sum payment of £175, the CWU has agreed to support consultation on ending the current final salary pension scheme.
On the question of Royal Mail's modernisation plans - which include the introduction of more flexible working patterns - there is said to be no UK-wide agreement.
Instead, the BBC has learned that there will be a number of trials and that changes will be agreed locally by unions and regional Royal Mail management.
Which means they'll come in eventually anyway, but voting papers might be worded enough to swing it.

If any of this is accurate of course.
