At the mo we've got the whole of the SW area out,a few from SE and E,now we're all out.
Chances are the whole country to follow!

What's the correct procedure for taking industrial action?
Industrial action will be protected by law as long as:

the dispute relates to a trade dispute between workers and their employer
a secret postal ballot has been held and the majority of members voting have supported the action
detailed notice about the action has been given to the employer at least seven days before it commences
There's no protection for:

unofficial industrial action
action called by a union unsupported by a ballot
secondary industrial action (in support of workers of another employer)
action promoting 'union labour only' practices
action in support of anyone dismissed for taking 'unofficial action'

I can't state this enough.

To take U/IA shows how hacked off you are within your working environment. To take U/IA is putting your job on the line instantly. To take U/IA shows the unrest currently sweeping the country. To take U/IA takes guts, not stupidity. these people have already been docked 4 days pay - do you really think they want to lose more by U/IA..

Without doubt, U/IA (in London particularly) will get RM high managements shackles up and subsequently round the table. If RM walk away from this tomorrow without anything constructive being achieved, then it's all out U/IA.

U/IA has nothing to do with the CWU. But it goes a long way in showing how much people will go to prove RM management are screwing with people - you just had to see the earlier post today with regards Oxford - what kind of s**t was that the staff had to read and endure? Go find the Oxford thread, read the material and come back on here saying you think U/IA is wrong. RM did not give Oxford that notice to serve - Oxford managemet did that off their own back

While i don't agree with or condone unofficial industrial action,i have to say RM have underestimated the
strength of feeling amonst its people.
After losing 4 days money,they must have felt the financial burden would weigh heavy and most people
would simply drift back to work and accept what was on offer,ultimately undermining the unions position.
i'm not convinced they'll sack people for taking this stance,however i personally don't see the rest of the
country walking out,leaving RM no option but to impose the changes anyway,it's a dangerous game,but lets
face it,it can't get much worse.

Hmm...depends on whether he goes back to Tony B Liar mode, or whether Lord Goldsmith's marginal seat purse-string pulling has given him a short sharp shock. Certainly he seems to have noticed that the public like Cameron-Goldsmith (a lot - enough to put him inthe lead in the polls), and loathe Cameron-Bliar as much as they loathed Bliar himself.

royal mail want to make profit, there losing millions through strike action if were striking more, the more they loose, theres going to be a limit to the amount of money there willing to loose, there the people giving royal mail a bad name not the post workers! all for the strike! wish my union rep would pull his finger out his arse and decide to make a stand for whats right, and at the minute only thing right is too strike! so let it be.
