Stormproof wrote:All very well putting 1000 jobs in but no doubt none of these jobs will be in DO's. The parcels will sit in yorks for days/weeks, as they do now. Considering they keep harping on about parcels being the growth market why are they always the first things to be left behind. Why don't they just reintroduce dedicated packet drivers like they use to have years ago.
That is a familiar state of play in many offices. RM are happy to take the money for postage of packets, but won't pay the wages to get them delivered and would rather have packets piled up on Yorks for days. Deliberate Wilful Delay by management in my book. Time for some whistle blowing as in the nice little booklet they sent us a few weeks ago ? Put the resources in to deliver the goods or lose a stream of business that could save the company. Any normal competent business would. Sadly, Royal Mail has the IQ of a leaf.

The 1000 jobs over the next four years must be part of dingos two tier system :cool which RM have kindly now informed us :Very Happy - the site is on Buckshaw Village in Lancashire, about 4 miles from Chorley and the site is just wasteland at the moment. Just wonder how many of these 1000 jobs will be self employed owner drivers :hmmmm had one visit me the other day - white van no markings but a Parcelforce PDA but no uniform. Not something to unduly worry about I shouldn't think by the time the 1000th is ensconced I'll be 70 :chuckle and it'll be a privatised company.

I did wonder where the jobs were being "created". So what Royal Mail are saying is that these 1,000 new roles arent for new people. They are for at risk / displaced RM staff who will be offered the option to transfer to PFWW.

And PFWW isnt really Royal Mail, is it?

If PFWW is growing wouldnt it make sense to rebrand it so Royal Mail can take the glory?

While it is clear that letter may go down, save for circular and mailshots, Packets and Parcels is where the money is and our rivals are biting into that, we do need to seize the initiate and use our current network to our advantage,
there is a need to a more joined up planning by HQ involving the staff without any bullsh1t factor, both our jobs depends on this, without the staff onside, nothing is going to happen, however and unfortunately we are talking about
a workforce that is cynical to the bone after being shafted several times by incompetents who couldn't run a bath never mind man management.

It is part of Royal Mail Group just as we are in Royal Mail Letters, but your right in that not a lot of people see it as Royal Mail.
