Royal Mail strike ballot threatened./Managers!!

I'd have to dig out the copy of the agreement to give you an answer in detail, but I'm a bit pissed at the moment, so off the top of my head it was an agreement that was supposed to give us some protection in the event of change and the need to reduce/change staffing levels. It set out the criteria for VR/EVR and the amounts payable - dependent on age and length of service. Also the amount of compensation for reduction of hours (buydown).
It also guaranteed the length of time we would be guaranteed protection of shift allowances if we had to move off an attendance to one without or with a lesser shift allowance. I think the maximum time the higher allowance was payable was 3 years, depending on how long you had been on that attendance.
So if RM unilaterally scrap that agreement from next April as they are proposing, they would presumably be able to move people around, cut hours, or make people redundant with little or no compensation.

Cheers, Balders - and what's the odds any scrapping of that agreement will be forgotten about by Billy & Dave with current negotiations / wilfully done to get a deal with RM & in the hope it won't be spotted by the membership.....till it's too late ( talking of which, time to go - hope I haven't given you too much to think about

A spokesman for Royal Mail said that he could not comment on proposals before employees are informed,yeh right.
Still on the subject of the pension ,does anybody kow if the Pension Review has finished?

My Area Rep told me that RM are supposed to be 'cascading' their final proposals on pensions changes to us at the end of this week (does cascading mean being pissed on from a great height?).

It's about time these yes men stood up to be counted.
All we have been told over the past few months is that this is a good deal and you aint going to get a better offer.
How the repeatedly spew out the companies lies is beyond me..

If the low life scum bags do strike then as far as i am concerned there are one there own, there picket line will be
crossed and better crossed by every CWU member in the country after the way they have behaved during our
strikes, the managers are total s**t houses and if Leighton and Crozier want to crapp on them then thats fine with me.
Give them what they have giving us during this dispute, bullying, harassment, dismissal, disrespect, distress, heartache,
lies, subterfuge, deceit, need i go on, do not forgive them but rember there behaviour and get even.

Coming to a picket line near you soon, a well battered manager.

Pensions 'robbery' strike call

The Royal Mail is facing more crippling strikes by another 27,000 staff.

Union Unite claim new pensions proposals will reap the group Â£1.5billion and is to ballot 12,000 managers over what it called the "great mail robbery".

And the CWU is to draw another 15,000 staff into the action after already calling two 48-hour walkouts next month.

Members at Parcelforce Worldwide and Post Offices will be balloted and engineers, cleaners and catering staff will also be urged to strike. The row centres on changes to the company's pension scheme - including closing it to new employees and raising retirement five years to 65.

Chief executive Adam Crozier also wants to replace the current final salary scheme with one based on average earnings.

Unite said: "Even with inflation, the Â£1.5billion the members could lose far exceeds the haul of the great train robbers."

Royal Mail insists no decisions have been finalised.

I hope they do go on strike it can't do us any harm.Its not often you get workers and managers both striking,anything that f***s up Laurel & Hardy is fine by me.

I think if the managers do call a strike it will mirror the action called by the cwu...
as somebody has already said they haven't shown us any support during our action and i would be unwilling to support them.
If they were to strike on an individual basis it may highlight the fact that Royal Mail has far too many managers and the job can run quite smoothly without them

Is it only the top 200 managers who wouldnt be affected by the pensions changes?
I'm sure they would get through if they worked hard enough
