Any questions?
A Few

Change is coming but why should we accept all of the changes. After all we live in a Democracy and if we don't like we are allowed to question it.

Change is not always good and if affects my home life and take home pay, which as a delivery postie it will, I am allowed to fight it. The decision whether or not I should stay will come after the fight is either lost or won.

I must say that to accept change just because those in Authority say we have to accept it smacks of fascism and Soviet/Chinese communism both political stances I find abhorrent. To be jingoistic I did not serve for nearly 2 decades in the forces just so that I could roll over and play dead for something I think is wrong, just because management say so.

Democracy includes Free Speech which necessitates free thought. I think its the last part Senior Royal Mail Management don't like. Please everyone on whichever side of the argument you are, please don't spout either CWU or RM propaganda, THINK FOR YOURSELF AND MAKE YOUR OWN MIND UP

It is not mandatory for Admin managers to 'volunteer' to work on Ops at Christmas for 5 days, but if you decline then you should 'discuss your decision with your line manager' .... what is there to discuss exactly ??????

There is a great deal of sympathy, amongst the RM Managers that I work with, with the postal staff as so many of the issues are shared ones. There is a belief that the industry has been sold down the river by a Govt that really could not care less and that a liberalisation program was launched with full knowledge of the destructive consequences that would follow. The postal regulator has been excessively punitive towards Royal Mail, forcing it to jump obstacles that it's competitors to not have to negotiate.

Add Crozier and Leighton to the above and you have a lethal combination, the results of which we are all suffering at this time.
So, they'll be refusing to cross our picket lines during future strikes then.
Absolutely ... If the CMA start backing the CWU in this dispute (which I believe they should !!!) then an ALL OUT strike would accelerate a settlement.

I make no apologies for being on a managerial grade although I do not have any staff reporting to me. There are good and bad throughout the grades and looking at all frontline managers as being mindless automotons following blindly wherever Crozier/Leighton lead them is totally inaccurate and only really believed by simpletons.

We ALL work for the same business, we ALL want it to succeed, we ALL want everyone to prosper and have a future.
There isn't a single overpaid, jumped up office boy I've met who doesn't cringe and fawn in the presence of someone higher up the chain of command. You might be an exception, but the next one I meet with anything to say against Leighton and Crozier will be the first.

Fu***n A*** hole.
Dont you think that myself and other managers have feelings too? I go to work, have to face all you negative bast**ds on a daily basis and bite my tongue so fu**in hard in case i hurt anybodys feelings and they take a grevience out against me. I understand and accept that there are a few bad apples in the Line manager's rank, just as there are in the OPG rank, but i always try to be polite, explain why i am asking someone to do something and take on board any suggestions that anybody brings up if it is beneficial to the operation, but to have to be nice to someone who hates my guts just because i am a different grade to them, you have no idea how hard that is.
As someone said earlier in the thread, we are all in the same boat, i dont want to work till im 65, but i also dont want to spend my time farting against thunder... change is coming whether we like it or not. The majority of people that i have spoken to at my office say they would accept most of the proposals as long as their pensions are not fu**ed about with. The changes at my Mail Centre happen in October.... 1 hour later starts in this case... when i was giving the breifing about it, one of the guys screamed and i mean screamed " What if i don't change my times, what you gonna do about it? " My reply, "Asda or McDonalds are hiring". This is the reality of the situation, you dont like your new hours, F**k off to a better job with hours that suit you. whether you be ML grade or OPG.

Any questions? Thanks for listening, have a nice day!
the decision on the Pensions is just plainly wrong.Lets hope the CMA members see this as well. have they got the Balls to follow the posties lead ??

Wait for the 'party line' to be trotted out H.
Yes mate, the usual rubbish about this so-called "competition", and bull about "mechanisation" which I've heard won't be fully implemented
until 2010.

What a load of bollocks the majority of people do not want annulised hours and swipe cards and all the other flexible start time crap that you strike breakers come out with.

We know there will be change as modern macinery is introduced it should benefit customers staff and Rm alike but when :lfo and :cfo speak of change they mean cuts in real pay and increased workload as they think that is the future.

Well if you strike breakers think that is the future then you will reap what you have sown as so far I have seen managers do nothing but support the RM agenda for cuts.

I can only assume that you have not met too many people that work outside of your work area because you are sadly very ill informed ... If that chip gets any bigger and your shoulder will disappear altogether.

I am certainly not the exception as there are a great number of honest hard working managers working within the business, many of whom started off as postmen/women.

I've got 27 years in, so I've come across plenty of office boys in various offices. In that time, I've met one who I would regard as a manager. The rest are all workshy bullies. I've got nothing but contempt for them and the concept of honesty is alien to them. For the most part they're liars, with the added danger of being on a power trip. In short, they're nothing. I've stepped in better when I've walked up the path of a dog owner.

Before belittling his position could I suggest you research the Industrial Workers of the World. You may then understand his political stance on mangers. If you haven't or decide not to then I am afraid it will only weaken your arguments.
