My ballot paper must have got lost! I would have voted to withdraw funding - of course that was in June and it is only September - we are fighting for our future here - maybe if we had balloted in July then the Labour Party may have thought our leadership was serious and actually cared about the future of the Postal workers.

I voted to withdraw funding in 1998 along with over 90% of my office. One of the best things I ever did as office rep was to get a load of opt-out forms from the branch sec and hand them out in work. Why should I fund scum who attack the working class at every opportunity if I don't have to?

Yep i agree with you on that one cause we have to fight any party that attacks the working class doesn't deserve anything but two fingers up at them if they remembered who funds them then they might take a different stance but sadly they just take the money and f**k off leaving us in the lurch
I didn't get a ballot paper either on the subject of withdrawing funding to the labour party, and as far as I know neither did any of my colleagues in my office.
So after all the hot air what is the outcome of this ballot, does anyone have the results and the actions that are to be implemented as a result of the ballot?

Once again is the the CWU not communicating?
The ballot will not be until after the NEXT CWU Conference - that is June 2008.
I think that the CWU should be suspending all finances to the Labour Party until this dispute is resolved.
The NEC would have the authority to do that I think - but the Engineering side might oppose it.
I believe London Unison suspended all donations and support (including help with election work) during their pay dispute last year.

Or is there another reason I wonder? Could there be an election in May? What steps have been taken to petition Government on Postcom now? The whole structure of RM and the Union will be changed in 12 months time by which time it will be too late for us.
