NATIONAL POSTAL DISPUTE
A national briefing of all Branches took place on Thursday 13 September in London.
Copies of Royal Mail’s final position were handed out. It is fair to say that the document was received with a mixture of anger and amazement.
Royal Mail handed this document to the Union on the day before the talks were due to conclude. We are looking to get copies out to workplaces as soon as we can. Please read especially further on concerning your Pension.
Why is there no agreement after all this time ?
This is a fair question to ask. The Union always said that we wanted an honourable agreement. It was us who asked for the suspension of strikes so as to allow time for talks as long as RM would negotiate in a meaningful manner.
We understand that progress was made and indeed although the discussions were not progressed enough, members will know that the talks were extended.
The reason there is no agreement is that out of the blue Royal Mail dumped on us what they knew we could never agree to.
A letter to everyone’s home address will be sent out by the Union shortly.
What does this unagreed document state ?
The list that follows genuinely demonstrates the contempt Royal Mail have for us. If agreed, it would mean the end of the CWU in the way we know. More importantly, it would mean that your pay and conditions were massively reduced.
Ø Later starts 0600 to 0630 for most, including Saturdays.
Ø All night shifts in DOs , B/H and Sunday collections to go.
Ø All weekend MC operation to be reviewed (both inward and outward work), with a view to moving less time critical work (2c) to Mondays
Ø Collapsing of walks and duties (DOs and MCs) from wks 8 to 24.
Ø Complete flexible working. Royal Mail state : people will work different hours on different days of the week. This is from 1 October 2007.
Ø Everyone is liable to be forced at 7 days notice to change duty time each day required by + or – 2 hours.
Ø Everyone is liable to be forced at 24 hours notice to change duty time by + or – 30 minutes.
Ø MC staff are liable to be told to “stay later on shift to clear work and where possible come in later the next day.â€

it just goes to show that rm want people out the door,no one can be expected to work under those conditions..that is a blatant piss take....this time next year if we lose nearly everybody will be out the door working elsewhere..
royal mail will probably employ people who dont know no better ie polish etc who cant speak a word of english..

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Crap Deal
McCarthy is pushing this "diversity " thing in the latest open letter . Sounds if he's been reading the green ink stuff in The Telegraph/The Mail comments section , or he's been down his local Con Club too often .You will get everything RM promise ,if you can tell RM how many people live in China along with all their names .POSTMAN wrote:ermmmm sorry but i very much doubt he said that, that's serious s**t,but hey i may be wrong.coppertop wrote:Crozier has already said that by 2010 he wants RM to be 45% migrant woker as they will work for less and more likley as not not argue change
