Your office has obviously gone out on limb by NOT sticking to agreements. Just like some of those when SDD was mentioned who raved about the advantages - yeah right - 3 years down the line and we are still suffering from the poor planning and bad advice. Business mail is now going to be delivered in two parts in our office - thats if we have absolutely no option but to accept later starts - we will meet and decide what action we are going to take. Businesses rely on the mail being there when their staff arrive otherwise they are going to have idle hands and we all know what the devil does with those. Hey why don't we get businesses to give their staff a ring to go in when we arrive with the mail and they can work on til they've finished. Thats the answer then Alan Leighton and Co decide the working life of UK Business. Magic! Or as Paul Daniels used to say "you're going to like this, NOT A LOT".
You are right we did jump, before we were pushed and ignored agreements, we were the guniea pigs.That was the then reps choice. As a result we lost lots of duties, but still have quite alot of SA overtime. Currently, as a result i reckon our walks are up there with the worst in the district.Put it this way casuals dont clamour to be sent to our office!
In my experience, customers will whinge and whinge about getting their mail at 1.30 or even later, but the last thing they will do is put pen to paper. No matter how many times I've told them I would prefer them to get their mail at a reasonable time, but there isn't anything I can do about it, they insist on complaining at me, or my colleagues, and not those responsible. That's the British public mate. It's not the stocisim their forefathers had in 1939-45, it's the bone idleness of today where they'll put up with anything rather than do something to alter the situation.

I completely agree, My neighbours having found out I work as a Postie constantly bang on at me about how late their mail gets delivered, if at all...I have toild them to write and complain about it, and was told why should we....Ah bless Thatcher and her feckless offspring her years in power have brought forth...One thing I've learnt from an old G/F who now lives and works in the states, is if you want something done and it's not beign done, open your mouth and say something.

The Yanks are far better at that sort of thing than us lot over here. We'll put up with crap railways, busses, hospitals, postal service, service in restaurants, but the Yanks will complain. That old British 'mustn't grumble' is a crock. We'll have anything American here: their crap hip-hop 'music', they crap fast food, calling people 'guys', etc. Time we started importing a few other ideas from our American cousins like complaining about things, Jack Daniels and the IWW.

Eddie old chap... I hear your points and i had mine over the state of RM and PO Counters.. Later starts that cant be good for anyone apart for RM but not the customers and closers of Crown postoffices that will never bring back the publics opinion of us again... You mention SD's... So how can the public get to use the SD's when the postoffice is closed.>>>??????? Or your happy that a rival service is taking our business away and u speak as its ok in you post...
By the way i get over losing footy games but will you get over losing your job or rights thru lack of fight??? The public deserve more and we are a part of that as well... WE ARE THE UNION AND WE USE THE POSTAL SERVICE TOO...
Tommo, you misinterperate me on so many levels, quite how you can get the impression i lack any fight, i don`t know but if you can form that opinion by reading a couple of my posts on here so be it
You have gone off on a tangent with regards the closures of post offices, and my opinion of rivals taking mail away from the business. I never expessed a view on either.
The football reference was clearly light hearted and as a spurs fan you are clearly used to disapointments

Its already happened in Germany, theyve got different colour post

L&C like to try and sell something they haven't got ,and hope people are daft enough to swallow that rubbish.
